I believe that Oregon should outlaw murder, as that would certainly meet the needs of both Liberals and Conservatives.

Who is prohibited from buying a firearm?

Persons prohibited by all state and federal laws. Specifically, this applies to the
following conditions:

Conviction for a felony;

Under indictment or information for a felony or any crime for which the judge can sentence you for more than one year, conviction of a domestic violence misdemeanor;

Outstanding warrants;

Limited by conditions of probation;

On pre-trial release for a felony;

Committed to mental health division as a result of a mental commitment hearing;

Found mentally ill and have been specifically prohibited from purchasing or possessing a firearm by
court order as a result of a commitment hearing after January 1, 1990;

Convicted or found not guilty by reason of insanity during the previous four years for Assault
4th degree, Menacing, Recklessly Endangering, Strangulation, or Intimidation 2nd
Degree;

Have a restraining order against you for harassment, stalking, or threatening an intimate partner or child of an intimate partner;

A fugitive from justice;

A user of or addicted to any controlled substance;

Have received a dishonorable discharge from the armed forces;

Have renounced your U.S. citizenship or are an illegal alien.

Sadly, national surveys don't poll the criminal element, including gang and drug traffickers, which has a huge gun purchasing base. Of course, those guns aren't registered or legal, often ill gotten, often not even safe to use or possess. Isn't it interesting that another wacko that thinks blatant murder is nationally publicized, but the blase, routine daily street deaths aren't even worth notice anymore (maybe on page 7). If I thought it would make any difference, I would look up the stats regarding who is killing whom, anticipating that l'd find that the huge majority isn't from the wackos, although one of these incidents is too many. Observation tells me that gun crimes and gun violence stats for gang violence/drug addicts/traffickers far exceed the nationally publicized incidents. But that wouldn't matter much here. It would foment more vile, vulgar insults and personal attacks. That seems to be perfectly fine for many. Kind of like "I not only disagree with you, but I disrespect you, I hate you, and I have hours of distracting obscene insults toward you so I don't have to deal with the real issues. If you don't like it, you're excrement, so there."

It's funny that none of the extreme RW's here failed to mention that "the coward" that was the shooter was a self proclaimed conservative/republican, he is one from their own political tribe.
