There is a long term problem with Medicare namely medical costs keep spiraling out of control which has nothing to do with Medicare.
The social security problem is just a population spike nothing more nothing less. If you adjust the tax rate or simply take the cap off the current rates the problem is solved. It isn't hard. The problem is the Republican donor class has their sights set on this pool of money and they want it. Hell even Republican front runner Donald Trump has acknowledged this fundamental truth.
I can personally attest to the rise in healthcare prices as we get many statements a month. I have to say Medicare pays for most things w/o a hiccup, talking big ticket items too, but they do seem to have a problem with some nickel and dime stuff. When I was doing dialysis at the clininc, it was a couple hundred grand bill at the first of the year, right off the bat. Subsequent months were anywhere from five grandish to 25ish. I don't know why the differences.
Anyway, my clinic doesn't really make much money(I know the director very well) because they have maxed out financialy on the medicare, but mostly Medicaid patients it can take. Medicaid is a huge grain 'cause it barely covewrs costs if at all.
It's all my other Dr.'s who make(gouge) the insurance company's. I have to go to my graft Dr. every couple months ( think of him as the roto-rooter guy for the access in my arm), it's no big deal, and outpatient procedure. The drug pusher costs close to 2K and total bill is anywhere from 5-7K every visit and I'm actuallu under and out of procedure room in 15 minutes or less. I also just had an endoscopy and the drug pusher was 2.5K, not sure what the endo Dr. charged. That was a total of ten minutes.
Don't get me wrong, I like all my Dr.'s, they are the best and I would certainly be bitching if I had to pay anything, ala Malibbers situation(I feel very sorry for his situation), I would be on here singing, no, yelling same tune he his. I do feel sorry for the people who may have insurance they can barely afford the premiums too, let alone try to pay to the out-of-pocket costs, it's absurd.
I know, I know, the Kaiser foundation loves it..{shrug}..
EDIT to add: Should clarify, Medicare pays for most things w/o a hiccup along with my secondary insurance.
