Joe Paterno and President Out at Penn State

Story here:

Paterno and President Out at Penn State
I think it's a lot of BS to treat Pappa Joe in this manner. It wasn't like he was in the shower with the kids. He's been there a ton of years, and there's only a few games left to the season. For him to bring mucho honor to Penn State and then to be kicked out the door is beyond belief. I think they should burn down the school in his honor!
The board of trustees could have taken the easy road by allowing Joe to finish the season. Instead the board stepped up and did the right thing. This is not like Reggie Bush accepting a nice house for his parents with Coach Pete Carroll turning a blind eye or Ohio State's coach JimTressell not knowing about the improper gifts Terrell Pryor received. This is off the richter scale.
The Penn State trustees are a classic example of a knee-JERK reaction. They act as if Joe Pa were a Catholic priest. They and everyone else should save there venom and disgust for the actual molester.

If he knew about it and did not persue it then yes I think that he should be punished. I do feel some sympathy for him though especially because of his age.

It would not surprise me if his health suddenly went downhill and he passes away. I think football and his wife are his life and I think this is going to hurt him.
Paterno is a sick demented old man. He KNEW about the child molester and did everything he could to PROTECT the freak. I sincerely hope many more heads roll. An absolute freak show.
I love Joe Paterno. I wanted to play for him with every ounce of my fiber and it broke my heart when a Penn St recruiter came to give another guy on my team a once over and he completely ignored me.
With that said, the evidence is pretty damning that he knew about this stuff years ago and did nothing. You can not forgive that.
It's a shame his career ended like this, but by his inactions he allowed this cretin to continue molesting kids years after he should have been caught.
I don't know, what I saw on ESPN was that Joe, when learning about the guy and what he did, reported it to AD. So where does his reporting it to school officials vs the cops cause him to lose his job? Remember, this guy's been in the same job forever and to him, college officials would be his typical direct reporting for any problems.

Of course any guy in their 80's should know that cops come first and college officials can't actually solve anything.....
We're not talking about reaporting a parking violation here. Reporting it to the "next level" should take you off the hook if you are the type of person Joe Pa has always been. He dropped the ball on this one and the many years he's been there have nothing to do with the outcome. As has been said many times in the last few days, if it was one of his grandkids, you can damn well bet he wouldn't have stopped there. Well, all of those boys ARE someone's grandkids!

Good Luck!
Ric at Joes
Yes, it is a shame his career ended that way, but it was the right thing to do. I applaud Penn State for doing the right thing all be it too late. There are lots of new victims coming forward and it may very well be he knew about more than just the one kid although that one was bad enough.
