Luckily my business is now international and I do not depend entirely on the local economy...although I still have many clients here. A state-wide minimum wage makes no sense when the cost of living is so different in different counties. I think it's just Sacramento killing off our agriculture industry.

It is, indeed, a shame.

Folks o'er heh' in Appalachia have gotten used to California lettuce and avocados. Well, maybe not avocados so much, . . . but they'll miss the lettuce.

I imagine you'll get used to Mexican lettuce...where they make 70 cents an hour.

Extra blistered for me but well said.

In Arkansa, class warfare is over and the Walmart heirs have won. (And to adjust the rates so that the wealthy and the middle class pay the same overall state and local tax rate would be Communism, right?)

The don’t get it, and probably never will. They have bought into this whole poor little rich guy as the victim mythology that the right wing media has been promoting for decades now.

Never Mind.
A country with a healthy middle class is one where the "wealth is spread around" vs. having it accumulated by a small minority.

The trickle-down experiment started by Reagan that (among other things) awarded investors a better tax rate than wage-earners has failed to contribute to the prosperity of the general population. "A rising tide raises all ships" is a frequent (BS) idiom thrown around by every disciple of the trickle down philosophy. See Paul Ryan on almost any TV interview for an example. And the best part is these people support getting rid of minimum wage laws even as they preach that all ships are being raised.

30 years later there are plenty of ships sinking to the bottom of the ocean while the money that was going to benefit them has created a small minority of billionaires; and if anyone dares point that out they are labeled a "communist" ... or "punishing success".
I'm just wondering since Forkie lives in a state with no income tax and advocates that he is fighting for the poor, if he contributes the taxes he would have had to pay, to charities? Also does he do any volunteer work? He certainly is making a total fool of himself on this thread.

The game is rigged in Nevada too. In total state and local taxes*, the middle class tax rate is about four times higher than for the top 1%.

*Sorry right-wingers, the income tax isn't the only tax, is it?
