Kentucky Derby 5 May 2012

There are off-track betting facilities within reasonable driving distance of DonDiego's foothills paradise. Anyone have any hot-tips? Sure-things would be even better.

DonDiego seldom bets the favorites, so he's considering:

__Long-shot: Went the Day Well

__If the track is sloppy - 50% chance of showers is forecast: El Padrino

__DonDiego likes the color: Creative Cause

LOL- Sure things are nice, but I don't see any. Interesting field this year!

Long-shot -I'm looking at putting "Daddy Nose Best" into my exotics - He'll be charging late, has Garrett Gomez aboard, and a 100 Beyer - he shouldn't be overlooked. Also thinking Sabercat might make a showing here, can't deny the great pedigree and his recent improvement indicate he might just step up with the big boys.

Color - okay, I'll admit I love the Gray/Roans and will occasionally throw some money their way. Creative Cause is one, but Hansen is even more stunning to look at!

But I think the favorites might just have it this year, and I feel like the Bob Baffert/Mike Smith combo might just pull it off with Bodemeister .

Good luck to everyone this Saturday!

Hmm, . . . DonDiego says "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder":

Lucky me I'll be in Vegas. Will be putting 10 bucks on every 50 to 1 shot and hope for the best. 500 smackers could be coming my way!

I went to Hot Springs for the first time a few weeks ago and got to see Bodemeister destroy that field, so if he can break the "didn't race as a 2 YO" jinx he may be worth a wager. I also like Gemologist and Creative Cause.

Disclaimer-- Johnzimbo has never picked a derby winner though he has been trying since he bet Flying Paster in 1979.

They look like brothers.

Blade wonders if Mrs. DD will be sporting a derby hat on Saturday?
Still only one egg. And still no sign of the parents.

Hehe. Wrong thread. LOL.

Anyways, I'm putting my money on Trinninberg.
