Killing time in the morning question???

They are pretty much dead-center in front of 4Qs, and it seems to me they were there every day, not just on the week-end.
All of the kiosks are open 7 days/week, around 10am. Some open a little earlier. The spray paint guys are also there all week in front of Four Queens - I know they're there by 11am, they might also be open by 10am.
I'm an early bird too. One of the places that I like to go to is the Springs Preserve, which opens at 10:00 am. It is near Downtown. By the time I get ready, eat breakfast, watch the morning news it is time to go. They have a 2 for 1 deal in the American Casino Guide.
They have a big desert garden with easy to walk trails and great scenery. Inside they have a short movie about the history of the Las Vegas Springs that is pretty interesting.
There is a flash flood room where rushing water comes down a a fake hill towards you. You can walk through a train car that feels like it is going to Las Vegas and take part in a land auction as you stand amongst statues of other bidders. They have a small area outside with a desert fox and a variety of desert lizards to look at and there are replicas of Indian houses of tribes that lived in Las Vegas (before air conditioning!)

Jennifer
Another thing to do in the early morning is to take a walk through the grape vines near the pool at Green Valley Ranch.

We stay on east coast time while in Vegas. However, all of our favorite early morning activities include a rental car. Sunrise at Red Rock, coupon runs, great time for a convertible in the hot seasons, etc. About 5:30 seems the time that "working girls" who were hired for the whole night seem to go home can, be fun to watch.
Ohmigosh Jennifer!
That sounds awesome!Thank you thank you thank you! Can you elaborate a little more on exactly where that is? I think that realy sounds like something the three of us would totally love! Man, I never heard of that before! So very cool!!! I'll look for your response soon! We are off to the Texas Renaissance Festival on Friday, though, for the weekend, so I probably won't be checking the board again until Sunday afternoon sometime. (different type of drinking and silly people without the Vegas touch)! Thanks again! Pat
Hi Pat,
The Springs Preserve is near Downtown. I usually go there from The Orleans hotel so I head North on Decatur, right on Alta and turn left on Valley View Blvd. It is also across the street from a mall. They have a useful website (which has a map of their exact location).
They have a gift shop with some nice items and a Wolfgang Puck cafe, which I haven't tried yet.
I hope you have an American Casino Guide because it has a buy one get one free coupon. Two people can get in for about $18.00 total (not including tax).
I learned about the Springs Preserve when it first opened because there was an article in our Honolulu newspaper.
Sometimes I feel a bit sad because it isn't very crowded, just some school groups on field trips. I don't think the tourists (or many locals) know about this great place.
They also have a building that deals with learning about recycling and a small art gallery. My favorite parts are the beautiful desert gardens where little chipmunks scurry about, the flash flood room, the fake train car that you walk through, the land auction statues, the short movie on the history of the Las Vegas Springs and the grand finale is looking at the live desert fox (who is usually taking a nap).
Aloha,
Jennifer
I also stay on East Coast time so the roosters are up at 6am.
Sunrises are great. You can always get your morning exercise in, a very brisk walk with a coffee. You can also find a hotel facing east for that great view. Some of the elavated tram stations have great views that early in the AM
There are some shops on the strip near MGM that are open as early as 8.
You can also check out breakfasts along the way if you want.
I am sure that someone can chime in about the length of the strip ( I think 3 miles)(The mall to Mandalay Bay) and if there are any other types of cafe's open that early. I think the Flamingo used to have counter service very early.

MO
Thanks again Jennifer and MO! I am printing this out, I think, or at least writing it down. If we do, in fact, do this, I'll post again, along with our ROYAL pictures, of course, though I have YET to figure out how to do that!

Thanks again all, you guys rock!!!!! (The Renaissance Festival was awesome by the way, in case any of you know what that is). There were really some spectacular costumes there this year! With lots of clothes and without! Seriously!
I'm glad you had a great trip. Renaissance festivals are really fun!
Aloha,
Jennifer
