I've read reviews about it. It seems that today's Sterling Brunch isn't nearly as good as the old Sterling Brunch. They're now using little lobster tails and skimping on other high end seafood items.

I've been to the Sterling Brunch twice since the BLT takeover, most recently two months ago. The quality of the brunch is better than under the Bally's Steakhouse regime. The lobster are good sizes, and really all of the plated dishes have improved in my opinion.

When they first opened under BLT they were a little stingy with the caviar. You had to ask a server to bring it from the kitchen. That has all changed and now it's available for pick up. This is better than the old way where you had to ask the sushi person for a serving.

The buffet may be a little bit smaller. It's hard to tell since they've rearranged the layout. The dessert station is definitely smaller, but plenty of choices.

And the Perriet Jouet flows faster than ever. My favorite server is Hugo and he is great about not rushing you and making you feel like he wants to turnover the table. I tip him accordingly.

In addition to the Sterling Brunch, BLT Steak has given the property a infusion and modern look. Great sommelier, better environment, etc. Last I checked happy hour at the bar from 5 to 6 p.m. offered all drinks at 50% off. This includes Johnny Walker Blue.

We go to BLT Steak for Happy Hour at least once or twice every trip. I am now able to make their famouse popovers, which were also featured on "The Best Thing I ever ate.".

I was only referring to one story I read on the internet about the Sterling Brunch. It had pictures. If I can find it, I'll post the link and see what you have to say. I'm not a buffet person, but the Sterling Brunch is maybe the one brunch I would do. I could care less about the dessert station. That is only filler. Lobster, crab, oysters, and champagne would be the things I'd want to put a dent in.
Yes SouthPoint does have an Oyster bar that has a King Crab special. I'm not an expert on those things, I just know if you dunk them in enough butter they taste awesome.

But I will tell you that Oyster Bar has the best Clam Chowder I've ever eaten
Jatki makes a good point about species of lobsters. Sorry about side tracking king crabs but to me spiny lobsters tastes better than Maine lobsters. Spiny lobsters do not have the pincher claws that Maine lobsters have. But spiny lobsters have a better flavor than Maine lobsters, just my personal preference. In Hawaii they have slipper lobsters (shaped like a slipper). Slipper lobsters are not as common as spiny lobsters in Hawaii and that make slipper lobster more expensive than spiny lobsters in Hawaii though I don't know which tastes better.

I absolutely love that oyster bar. I don't recall seeing king crab legs, but I would probably order them if they were on the menu.

I've had that crab leg special at the oyster bar 3-4 times in the last 5 years. 1.5lbs for $29. But again, gotta have the chowder. Here's the menu link (unless I f*cked it up)

To go off on a bit of a different subject, but still crabs, dungeness are pretty phenomenal crabs as well. One year we picked San Fran for our new city to visit for a week and after some research I couldn't wait for us to get down to the wharf. I had never even heard of dungeness but we quickly learned. I think we ended up going back just for those crabs 3 or so times, man those things were good. Too bad can't get 'em on the east coast. I'll mention the clam chowder in the sourdough bowlswas pretty fantastic as well, not as good as up in NE but pretty darn good. Plus there's nothing like enjoying seafood by the water, doesn't matter east coast, west coast or down south if it's by the sea it's usually great.
Dungeness is pretty much all we eat up here in PDX. In a good season you can get them fresh for 4.99lb or so. Every New Year's Day my dad and I host a crab feed and we go to the local Korean seafood market where they have them live.....they'll take them and boil them for me, I put them on ice and we clean and eat them the next day. Awesome
