Anyone have any info on what is happening there. Read recently that they were going to finally start the rehab of the place soon. Just curious about the old pink lady.
CIM Group is the company that is rebuilding the Lady. https://www.cimgroup.com/ Word has it that cranes are on site and work has begun. The original schedule was to have the renovations complete by the end of 2011 and open for business in 2012...but I suspect the actual timeline is anyone's guess. The good news is that it is moving forward.
I wonder how much damage was done when they " demo'd " the main Casino floor, it looks pretty ugly from the outside, they did this along time ago. To me it looks like they gutted out the ground floor and were prepping it for an implosion, then decided at some point not to do this and to rebuild/remodel instead.
Its an extremely old building(built and expanded at various times from the 20's into the 50's).
CIM did a great job with the restoration and renovations about 5 years ago. Most of the building remains as it was, with a paint job, and modern kitchens and bathrooms. The lobby is actually gorgeous and the ornate interior and exterior architecture that was a early 1900's calling card of Downtown Los Angeles remains.
It gives me a great deal of hope for Lady Luck and I would be happy to see it as a 3rd viable clean and renovated mid class property downtown(in addition to Golden Nugget and Main St. Station).
FWIW, my property is also one of the more reasonably priced properties in downtown LA. CIM seems to value occupancy over nitting down to the last time. Bodes well for a downtown casino operator IMO.
