Las Vegas Club to be remodeled soon and Plaza expansion?

Here the story:

Another casino to join the makeover club?
I stayed at the LVC last weekend and they are indeed making improvements to the rooms (at least). They changed the carpet to the same design as the ones at the Plaza. Some pictures were removed (could see the outline on the wall, lol) so will probably be changing the wallpaper, they removed the smoke detectors in the ceiling (just a bunch of wires now). Some wall outlets had their face plates removed. I just hope that they change the bathroom, the sink didn't match up with the mouldings so I am assuming they were probably going to change em out. I also hope that they change out the furnishings, put in a flat screen HD tv with directTV like at the plaza. I also hope that they upgrade the elevators, while the 2 south tower elevators were (kind of) working they were still kind of slow and sounded in need of upgrading and reprogramming. Ticked me off, one elevator was on the 3rd floor and I had to wait for the other on the top floor to come down for me. This happenned on more than one occasion.

I was supposed to stay in the North tower this past week but they moved me over to the plaza. Unlike the plaza I think they are fixing up the lvc without fully closing the place and so have some rooms available when they aren't working on them or finished fixing them up. Right now it's the slow time so they closed off a block of rooms for upgrading. I think they probably will reopen some of them for the super bowl but close them again after that to upgrade the next few months.

Guess they don't have a clue what to do to upgrade the casino, the casino has an odor and seems kind of dark, they need to come up with something to improve the place. Even though (supposedly) they claim that their machines payout better the place always seems empty.

The good thing is that there are lvc rooms still available on third party sites. I think they will probably honor the reservations (as in my case) and move you to the plaza if the rooms aren't available at the lvc. Always good to call and check though.

The only thing I'm afraid of is when they finish the remodel they will claim that they are more "upscale" to justify jacking up their rates. IMHO, while they can cosmetically improve the place I think it will still be regarded as a lower tier hotel, they should improve it to bring in customers but keep the rates down to keep the place filled up.

I stayed in one of their "suites" a couple years ago and thought it was a great deal @ $100/night. A little old but very clean with lots of room. It had a nice wet bar with fridge..and some funky, vintage wallpaper.

The casino is an interesting layout. They have one big area up front and another big area in the back...both seperated by the checkin area and restaurant.... Seems like an opportunity to have a different theme in each area.

It definitely needs a refresh.

They've cut all their offers to me at the Plaza since the remodel. Kinda pisses me off that they have no loyalty to someone who put up with all the bums and the piss smell now that they're all fancy. Luckily there's a few other places to gamble in Las Vegas

Was in Plaza last Thursday around noon and the place was not busy. For all the remodeling they did they are not getting a lot press a few months later. The place really does come off nice but traffic was light. As far as the Vegas Club they need to do something and do it fast. It was empty both time we walked passed it. The second time I walked through the casino and ZERO customers. (1 or 2).

It was empty when I went there last-in 2007!
