Las Vegas football

Again, people come from all over the country for edc, although I think an awful lot are from California. 50,000 Packer fans may want to come to a Vegas game, there simply isn't the airline capacity to handle that.

NFL fans aren't restricted to a particular city or even a state regarding a particular team. Plane tickets in Milwaukee for a Packers game in Las Vegas will sellout quickly. Those that are shutout will drive to Minneapolis or Chicago to catch a plane. The rest of the Packer fans will fly in from every other region in the country. While many NFL fans are homies, many are not. I've lived in Colorado for more than 50 years, and I like the Chiefs and Cowboys!
I think a lot of people are gonna say Vegas? and a chance to see my team beat the Raiders? What's not to like? A better question is, how long does it take until you can host the Super Bowl??

We have tons of flights daily to all cities and we are used to accommodating very large special events. Our airport is the best in the country. We moved to Vegas for the airport and the airport alone. No airport can touch it for the price, availability, easy access and effeciency.

I live in Vegas and am very friendly with several key people at Swissport, the company that runs McCarren.
On a Sunday night, there are usually less than a hundred open seats to most major cities, and adding more than a few charters is problematic.
It's a nice airport. I wouldn't go nuts over it.
Vegas is not used to handling NFL games. It's not a rodeo or boxing match.

Yea, its not like they host some of the biggest conventions in the country. How many attend CES? A 100k or more? Cities that has traveling fans, flights get added, note above SD game reference. Steeler fans will find a way to get there as other team fans will.

Well?
They still need the owners approval, but it's looking good.
And the interested reader might well ask: "Where?"

"[Andy] Abboud, [Vice President of Government Relations and Community Development for the Las Vegas Sands], said the developers’ preferred site remains four parcels totaling more than 62 acres bordered by Russell Road, Hacienda Avenue, Polaris Avenue and Dean Martin Drive. It’s just west of Interstate 15 and the Mandalay Bay resort.
The Raiders have an option to acquire the land, which had a listed value of $40 million. The Raiders have not announced a purchase price."

Whoa ! ! ! This would be cool:

how would betting in the casinos on football games be affected?-----my understanding is there is no betting on teams that have their home in Nevada such as unlv and the u of Nevada----if the Nevada team would play in the super bowl anywhere or if the superbowl would be played in vegas would the casinos be estopped from taking any bets on their biggest day of the year?

Unless the NFL steps in with an objection, betting on a Nevada team pr'bly won't be a problem.

"In 2001, the Nevada Gaming Commission lifted a long-standing betting ban on the state's college teams. Sports books started accepting bets on UNLV and UNR basketball and football to help exhibit the integrity of regulated wagering."

***EDITED TO ADD***
DonDiego supposes the Raiders organization has already consulted with the NFL; there is unlikely to be an objection from the NFL.
