Hey! The Las Vegas Hilton has finally changed its name. It is now the The Las Vegas Hotel and Casino. The new name suggests to DonDiego that the theme may well be "Vacuity".

Hey! The old Sahara Property is gonna be redeveloped. KTNV Action News displays the model and talks to the man in charge of marketing.
And Hotel Chatter speculates that the target demographic is "younger professionals/party monsters [looking for] a much cheaper rate, . . . than at the Cosmopolitian." Although DonDiego is, in fact, a party monster always on the lookout for a cheaper rate he is pretty sure that he will have preferred the Old Sahara.

The old Sahara was pretty dumpy. A couple of friends of mine stayed in the spacious "Ambassador Suite" atop the Alexandria tower a couplt of years ago. The suite was enormous, but extremely dumpy. Small tube TV's furniture circa 1981. many many light bulbs burnt out. The AC wasn't working (late April) and the hotel made little to no attempt to repair it

Posted this back when it was announced that it was closing...but I still belive the Sahara should be Rethemed to focus on the needs of America's growing obsese population...

Oversize everything..chairs, beds, doorways, casino games. Make everthing easily accessible to the 'large sized folks'. Offer some healthy living counseling and health testing and weight loss packages for those who are interested in lifestyle changes. You could have a weigh-in at check-in and check-out for the people coming to lose weight. Might as well make the whole thing smoke-free too.

Offer scooter rentals and specially designed oversized transport from the airport. Open shops and boutiques that cater to large size people. Spa and Health Center focused on the needs of the obese. Keep the buffet open 7X24X365, but have some really healthy choices for those who want to change...along with some real crap for those who don't.

Use fat comedians exlcusively and have a showgirl show using overweight dancers...Get Jillian and Bob to do special talks and beginning exercise sessions.

....and you could call it "The Bigest Losers Hotel, Casino and Weight Loss Spa" I'd gamble at the Biggest Loser Casino...just because..

or maybe not.
