last minute travel specials

Anyone know a good website that just tells last minute travel deals...I don't care where I go, I'd just like to see what is available for very cheap and go from there. It gets tiring putting dozens of places in. We also want to go to europe for about a month, but are willing to start and end from wherever...my plan is to go for about a week somewhere, do a mediterranean cruise and then go for another week...I haven't been at all, so just want cheap airfare to anywhere interesting.

Has anyone bought any of the travelzoo or groupon packages...were they really the package price or lots of fees...most of these are out of ny though. I am based in vegas, btw.

Also any places where you can go for about a month or so, but is safe politically. I am a little afraid of going out of Mexican tourist districts. I have only been to mexico on cruise ships...what about any south american or european safe zones, but safe for americans, but where an american dollar goes far.

any ideas anyone? does anyone have a travel agent still that calls with super specials...I'd like something that would email me when super deals come up. Not anywhere specific, but when they are trying to clear out deals.

thanks
Try vacationstogo.com They show last minute cruises and vacations. Have fun!
I have traveled extensively for business and, even though I am of Irish and Polish descent, I love Scotland. It is best to go in June or July because Edinburg is at the same latitude as Hudson Bay so the days are very long. I highly recommend renting a home outside of Edinburg (maybe in Fife) and renting a car. You can take a train into Edinburg and the castle is amazing along with high street. Within a 90 minute drive you can be in the mountains or at St. Andrew's and Loch Ness is a fun day trip.

I have used Hotwire for a Mexico all-inclusive trip and it was good. My son did a Groupon for Puerto Rico and there were a number of charges on top of what they expected (like parking fees in a remote resort). I have seen some good deals on www.cheapcaribbean.com as well. My son was recently in Copenhagen and thought it was great and I have had some wonderful visits to Switzerland - I honeymooned in InterLaken in November ~36 years ago.

As for Mediterranean countries, I always liked Italy but I have never been to Greece and would like to give it a try some time. Is it a problem now with all the refugees?

One other thought is to check out American Airline offers for credit cards. I believe they are giving away 50,000 miles with new sign-ups and this may be enough for at least 1 ticket to pretty much anywhere if you are not too selective on the date.

Enjoy

DonDiego just saw a Southwest Airlines on the TV yesterday, and learned that Southwest now flies to the Carribean: Aruba, Bahamas, Belize, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and lots of places in Mexico.

Anyway, . . . there's some "sales" at the airline's website.

[For the record, DonDiego will be spending next weekend in Newark, NJ.]

Also, I just saw this on www.travelzoo.com

• Royal Caribbean: 7 nights to Greece from Venice w/oceanview cabin & $200 in extras … $649
Splendour of the Seas features family-friendly activities, like a rock climbing wall and mini-golf
Depart Nov. 21

• Holland America: 11 nights to Spain & Portugal w/credit & oceanview cabin, $700 off … $789
Rotterdam's standard cabins are some of the largest at sea
Depart Nov. 21
Mobile app.....hotel tonight. Its cheaper than priceline but you have to wait until you are a week out or less.
Hmm,I know it's a taboo word but my wife's parents own several weeks at a timeshare and we can use it whenever we want, within reason of course. I can type in the dates for next week and places all over the world pop up available for exchange. The kicker about timeshares is that people are giving them away nowadays just to get out because once bought, you are married to it for life along with the annual maint. fees(we pay it for them, about 800 bucks a year), so it's worth it to us. We've stayed at some really, really nice places all around the country.

If you're interested in pursuing, look up timeshares for sale, like I said people are giving them away. My in-laws actually paid someone to take one of theirs away (they owned a few).
Thanks for all the tips I will look at the recommended sites.

We are former road warriors too, I have some hotels points and lots of southwest points. We quit other airlines a long time ago....I looked up cabo san lucas on sw and it has another $100 in fees for being international. They said this was fees due to international fees. I have never flown international...is this something to expect. I seem to see things about country entrance and exit fees as well??? While I have traveled extensively in the US, my other travel is limited....went to Costa Rica, Puerta Rico, cruises, etc...not much else. That is why I am interested in just starting to go to the first cheapest place....because I want to go everywhere, so don't care where, lol. We just semi-retired, so are ready to travel on our own dime...very hard after years of expense accounts.

We have been to other people's timeshares and used our Marriott points at their resorts, but never needed one for ourselves. So not too familiar with that, but know people who have them.

It seems to be easier to find the cheap cruises, but not easy to find the discount airfare to match. It is usually one or the other. That has been my obstacle is just finding a cheap flight, I am better at finding the cheap hotels and cruises....it also seems that Vegas doesn't have the clearance flights much. They usually are out of nyc.

I like to stay places long term, so I'd like to find a way to go somewhere, rent something for a month or two and move on....the project road warrior has taught me this is a normal life. lol.

again, thanks for the info, this is a new way of traveling for me. We always just went where work sent us. lol..
