The Last Ringbearer.

Bill, could I trouble you to provide the ISBN number for this book? Thanks.
Its not available as a book, only as a free PDF download. Simply google the title and you'll find it.
I loved the books in Jr High school.
I started with The Hobbit at age 13 and went on to read LOTR more than a dozen times. I did read Morgoth's Ring once, but that was tough to get through. I haven't gotten into any of the followup stuff at all.

I have to say I'm one of the purists that really didn't care for the movies. I hated that they used Arwen instead of Glorfindel -- hated that they gave her so much time and storyline that she shouldn't have had. Hated that they portrayed Frodo and Sam damned near like were gay. Their characters were far too dramatic. Lots of other things in the movies I just didn't like.

Billryan -- I'm surprised you called Galadriel "Galendril"!

My hard copies of LOTR, leatherbound The Hobbit, Morgoth's Ring, and The Tolkien Companion all sit on the top shelf of the hutch in my dining room. Still my all-time favorite story.

As far as LOTR goes, I enjoyed the movies (I have all 3 director's cuts) but never read the books. I never heard of them until I was out of school for several years (not much of a reader anyway). As a result, I never read any followup stories either.

I enjoyed the movies as well, but as with most movies adapted from books, they are not very faithful in following the actual content due to time & cost restraints. But if you are a fan of this type of material, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of The Hobbit. It's not a heavy read, even if you aren't much of a reader. Before you know it, it will probably hook you into reading the LOTR trilogy! You'll be amazed at how much more depth there is to these stories that simply wasn't included in the movies. I have some VERY well thumbed copies of all the books that I acquired back in elementary school and I still break them out once or twice a year to reread them. I find them to be just as wonderful decades later as they were when I first discovered them.

Mare, they had to make some minor tweaks as to make to movie more in line with a typical Hollywood movie. Hollywood movies must include a love interest, homosexual content either expressed or sugested, a strong male lead, and try to keep the film as fast paced as possible. (also must throw some male bare chested scenes if lead male character is sufficiently buff enough)

I do agree they made the relationship between Sam and Frodo waay to gay. (it was expected) Although you must admit that sycronized spear play at the begining, was freaking sweet!!
