Just another low roller Trip Report:
March 16th was a too repeatedly normal chilly day in NW PA yet not snowing for the impending trip, but then again we already had 4” earlier in the day so off I went to attend another hockey game in Erie to watch the Otters play the Guelph Storm in the final game of the season. I made the trip solo; my wife was making a visit to family and friends at our former home and due to her deciding on her journey rather quickly finding someone to use the other comped hockey ticket with me didn’t work out. They had other plans; well that’s what they said. I had 2 season tickets given by a friend who’s now in Florida and quite frankly I should have asked somebody here if they wanted one, but I didn’t and I’m sorry. Please excuse me for not asking a LVA'er. Leaving home in the Suzuki Kizashi again I first stopped in Titusville, PA(The Birthplace of the Oil Industry) and made a purchase at Advance Auto and continued on to Erie.
My plan then was to get something to eat and I picked Cici’s Pizza home of the endless buffet. Cici’s is da bomb, I love it. It’s not really close to my next planned stop on my agenda but I knew I could get fed quickly and as I stated I like it. Next was J.C. Penney’s located in the Millcreek Mall to pick up an ordered item. A sidenote, the Millcreek Mall is “affectionally” known as Erie’s Gun. The included aerial picture clearly shows why and if you look closely you can see me walking from my car to enter the mall. I’m near the gun’s barrel, nah I’m just funning with you here. I’m NOT in the picture. Urban legend says the mall was purposely built that way by developers with purported Mafia ties and they pointed the barrel to say f**k you to downtown Erie businesses.

Leaving the mall it was off to the hockey game, the Otters weren’t playing good down 3-1 and they’re in last place without any playoff implications so I left the building after the 2nd period. Later I found out the Otters tied the game with .3 seconds left in the game (yes that’s 3/10ths of second) and won it in overtime. Damn and I missed it. The price I pay for being a fair weather fan I suppose. My final stop would be at Presque Isle Downs for a little gambling. I made a promise to myself and the wife to not get carried away and I was just going to wager $200 along with my free play of $25. My game of choice is VP, but Presque Isle doesn’t let you cash in your free play on VP so I played slots at first. Along with the casino removing about half of their .25 VP and the casino being very busy there wasn’t a VP machine available. So slots it was and I used $10 of my free play and cashed out at $40, a good start. I then tried another $10 and cashed out at $0.00. So far I had taken nothing out of my pocket …yet. Strolling through the casino some VP machines opened up along with my wallet and in went a $100 bill and game on. I wasn’t getting squat and the credits were leaving me at an alarming rate so I pulled up the stakes, moved on and eventually lost. I then moved back to slots and added $20 from my points in addition to the remaining $5 of my free play. I bounced around and played for a bit and cashed out at $30. I get bored playing slots and my final $100 bill was burning a hole in my pocket so back to VP it was. I was getting some good play (finally) and had the machine consistently above 500 credits and even reached 600 from my starting point of 400. I even ventured the thought of quitting and along with my slots TITO’s I could walk away with a small profit. Yeah, like that’s going to happen.
Eventually my good hands weren’t coming and I cashed out at $75 and sought out the VP machines in the front of the casino. It’s the smoking section and being a never was, never now, and never will be a smoker it does bother me some, but I like playing there the best. Yeah, you go home with your clothes smelling like a chimney but we have a washing machine so what the heck? So anyway in goes my last $75 and let’s get ready to rumble.
Click if you want music, if no music wanted then don't click. Got it?
The play was decent, but dwindling away and I had moved to a few machines and one opened up on “the other side”. I say that because one side always is more difficult to get on a machine, it’s always busier. I sat down next to the machine I had the Royal on a few weeks back. I've hit 3 Royals on that particular machine by the way, but there was somebody playing it and it probably wouldn't have been very nice to yank them out of the chair so I didn't. Hey, even though I eat at Cici's I do have a little class. I put in my remaining amount of $50 and started play and was at $23.75 when I was dealt 10 & K of clubs along with 3 chits, held and lo and behold I filled the other 3! Woo Hoo X $1000 again.

I cashed out and before I went to get my money I sought out some friends who I had seen earlier in the casino plus they had also been to the hockey game prior. That’s how I found out about the stunning comeback by the Otters. You do remember the Otters? I played NO MORE and I still had the TITO's of $40 and $30 from the slots. The big hit actually occurred just into St. Patrick's Day and I being of Irish heritage had me a wearin' of the green. And yes to those wondering, I did have my nail clipper with me and as wise sage Karl Malden once said “don’t leave home without it” so I don’t. We even went to small stakes bingo at the local VFW club last week and I won over $100. Right now that thing has amazing powers and I hope it lasts (it won’t) and on top of all the magical powers it displays it clips nails too! Tell me the last time instructional books, videos, or software could do this, huh? Some say Dancer, some say Singer, right now I say Clipper.
