jatki99....There are lots of sites offering free Fantasy Football...nfl.com, cbs.com, yahoo.com, etc. We like the CBS.com one because they have a good user-interface. (The nfl.com one is a little more frustrating to use, go figure!).
Once you sign up (free) at the Fantasy Football section of the site, you will be able to see a list of Leagues that you could join (A league would be the other 'teams' you would play each week. Some have 14 'teams', some 11, some 9, etc., based on the website). Before joining a league carefully read the description of that league. Some will say "NO QUITTERS", some will say "experienced players only" some may say "for beginners', etc. Or they may say things like "for Eagle fans only", "for IBM employees only", "for beer-drinkers only", etc. You get the point. So find a league that seems friendly to new people and shares your interest.
The other thing you want to look at before joining a league is the "DRAFT DAY". I always joined a league that had a LATE (i.e., August/Sept) draft day....otherwise you might find yourself drafting a player that doesn't play, gets hurt, is transferred, etc. (Of course, everything is up in the air this year, so I would get one with a very late draft day).
The Fantasy football site will also have somewhere you can click to read the RULES. This would be very good for you to read because it would answer most of your questions on how to play. Every site is a little different in their rules. I've played Fantasy Football for a few years (even winning 2 of my Leagues 'Superbowl') and it wasn't hard to figure stuff out.
The 'worse' thing about Fantasy Football is the quitters. What we've found out is that many people quit playing if their team loses the first week or some make it to the middle of the season and then quit (losing? bored? who knows). Every league I've played in, ended up with about half of the league playing at the end of the season. Just be aware of that.
Good luck!
