Let's try something different for a change.

My vote this week goes to rayxtwo for doing his part to try to bring some goodwill back to the board. With all the petty, often childish, back-and-forth that sometimes goes on here, we occasionally lose sight of what brings us all here in the first place - a love for Las Vegas. Honorable mention to suecasey for all the help and insight into Stations properties, sionow for his wonderful trip reports that keep me going all summer, champster for cluing me in to the fact that SW has an annual sale which enabled me to get a killer price on our airfare last year, westie for continuing to post every deal he comes across, MissL7777 for specific help with a side-trip we took the Phoenix last year, and Fflowers for the knowledge that I am not alone in my relentless trip planning! The list goes on and on - so much insight and useful information can be found on this site, but it sometimes gets lost in all that other "stuff".
Great coupla last post's and couldn't agree more. I know I'm guilty of getting caught up in the muck and mire that goes on here and I'm not sure why, I am absolutely not like that when talking to people in life. I love to to have discussions about what's going on and there has never been a cross word said no matter side of the fence the people are on. Actually I've made a conscious effort to refrain or at least tone down and make my posta a little more balanced. I think people get offended or see it as a challenge when others speak in absolutes, like "what I say is the absolutely only way it is and you're an absolute idiot if you say or disagree in anyway whatsoever" type of attitude postings.

It usually only takes one of these type of "arrogant" posts to get the ball rolling downhill. I think if folks offered there posts with a little less "I'm absolutely right" and more of this is my opinion maybe it would help. I've actually witnessed a couple threads where it remained civil for a little while, then it that "post" comes along and straight downhill. Maybe folks should try and tune out when one of those come along. I hereby make a pledge that I will refrain from any types of those postings and will try to only offer up an opinion and will take no offense whatsoever on any dissenting opinion(if those opinions are derogatory, I'll ignore it altogether).

I'd like to say I appreciate the likes of folks like westie(Mr F &B), PJ(Mr trip advisor), sionow(Mr TR) and all the others who contribute to the forum.

Aw, Hoops, you're just saying that because you know my team sucks and you could talk trash to me the whole time. But I'd accept that invitation anyway =)

The Jets may be worse. The over/under on the Jets wins for this year is 6.5. I bet the under.

Ok, some of you may be wondering why I posted a thread like this. I'm tired of people having hissy fits with each other over shit that doesn't really matter very much. One of my former poker players overdosed on heroin the other night. He got clean and had been for a little over a year. He got together with some of his old drug buddies and started up again. The bastards didn't even have the guts to call someone to let them know what happened and left him to die. About a year ago, I had some good friends lose their son basically the same way. They used to be a very outgoing and fun couple but now you can just see the life is drained out of them.

I guess I'm really lucky. No one in my family has a drug problem. I've not had to go through the emotional turmoil of losing someone like they have, but I can see what it has done to them.

These are the thing that really matter, REAL LIFE! Not the bitching and moaning that seems to take over most of the threads on this board. Once this kind of thing starts invading a thread, I quit reading. There may be a very important piece of information that I might miss because of the mindless "you're stupid", "well you're stupider" that gets cranked up way too many times. I've see arguments get started over TYPO's and because someone didn't use proper English. Things like that aren't that big of a deal. If you know that something you are going to say is going to fire someone up DON'T SAY IT!!! If you have a problem with someone on the board, ignore them. Prove to everyone that you're a better person than they are. Could you imagine if there was no internet and people really said these kind of things to each other on the street??? You couldn't walk out of your house without seeing a fist fight, or worse, every time you turned around.

All in all, just be nice to people. I have people that totally piss me off everyday but I just let it go. They're just not worth the effort to get into a pissing contest with them. I'd rather use me energy on my friends that I really care about. You never know what will happen. You could wake up tomorrow and they're gone.

Ray

P.S. I know I kind of rattled on but give me a break, ok?????

Well said. We can't have the hours back we've spent arguing on the internet, but we can decide to use our future time more productively. If we knew we only had a week to live I doubt any of us would spend a minute of our time on internet message boards.
I want to thank marcisdave for being a genuine good pal to me, and being available for a visit when I come to town. He and I have different opinions in some areas, but he's a good, decent guy for whom I have a lot of respect.
I want to say something nice about mindbender, but apparently he isn't around any longer. He had some nice words to say to me when my mother died 4 years ago. I'll never forget those words that he sent in a PM. Come back bender...we all miss you!
Well, I've asked to have 6 Dallas Cowboys to be my pallbearers, that way they can let me down one more time when I'm gone!!!
I have many I would like to thank but the one who stands out more for me is Bags.
Yep, you read it correct..Bags. All the crap I gave him over his very colorful threads, he has not held any annomosity towards me.
I thank and respect you for this.

I would like to thank all the contributors to the Delete thread. The cartoons and pictures make me smile every time I pull up that thread.
Please do not stop.
