Lion's Share Progressive @ the MGM Grand

This person must have freaked out when he/she got 2 out of 3 - so close yet so far away!

You'd think that for the amount of time that this jackpot hasn't been hit, the jackpot would be a lot higher. I realize that it's only one machine now, but I'm sure it's played constantly.

With the lions pulling out you would think the jackpot would be leaving with some lucky person pretty soon.

Once I hit two loins and nothing on the third reel.

I got $10, at least that the person who took that first pic got $60.

I read the progressive increases $0.02 every $3 pull.

Therefore, if the progressive increases $0.02 every $3 pull, this indicates over $300 million has cycled though the machine (or $20M per year).

Also read this machine was hit several times but the person only bet $1 or $2 and not max bet so the progressive remained intact.

If you want the big money, bet the $3.

$1 bet and you get 3 lions, you would get $25,000.

$2 bet and you get the 3 lions. $50,000.

I believe there was originally 6-8 machines and after the progressive was hit, the machine was removed.

Look in the background of this picture from "Vegas Vacation". See the Lion's Share winner sign?

(From vegasbuzz.com):

Have you ever walked through the MGM Grand and noticed a slot machine that looks a bit out of place? The machine is from the early 90?s and it’s called the Lions Share Progressive with a jackpot that is currently at an estimated $2.2 million dollars.

The progressive jackpot has never been hit and state law prevents MGM Resorts International from removing the machine until the jackpot is hit. Theoretically the jackpot should have been won a long time ago. Some people estimate that the house edge is somewhere around negative 800-1500% because of the jackpot. The other interesting thing about this machine is that you will be paid the full $2.2 million dollar amount if you hit it and not receive annual payments like the new progressive machines.

The machine is located outside the high limit slot room among $1 and $5 slots. The machine is a dollar machine and it takes $3 per spin to play for the progressive. If you do manage to win some money on this machine and press the cashout button, you will have to wait for a handpay because this machine does not have TITO (Ticket In Ticket Out)…. its too old for this technology! It has also been reported that the bill acceptor will not take many new$5?s and $20?s. $100?s seem to work fine.

So, next time you are in the MGM, look for this machine and try your luck… You never know, you might just hit it!

I dump $20 into every trip. I dont think I'm alone in that tradition. I had to wait in line to play it last time.

Wow, you cover a lot of ground in LV. Your downtown coverage is quite impressive.

It's a tradition for many of us. Assuming it remains unmolested, I will play it in early April.
