LOL My Obamacare Premium is going up 50% in 2016

I got my renewal enrollment package. It came with a 50% rate increase. Now that is change I can believe in. What a joke. The coverage is absolutely awful too.

No wonder HHS is only predicting a 900k increase in enrollment for 2016. Given the rate increases and the closures of the co-ops I suspect when the actual 2016 numbers come in we will see a decrease in enrollment. The death spiral is coming.
But if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor......and if you like your plan, you can keep your plan. Except, no you can't.
Perhaps, it was all due to a nasty internet video.
Does anyone expect that any member of the press will ask the President about these minor details?
As I predicted - I am waiting for the ultra liberal windbags to deny this truth.
GAO reports that $1.6b is missing from obamacare exchanges.

DonDiego is not entirely certain that malibber2 actually believes "The death spiral is coming." DonDiego believes it, . . . but for someone on the internets to change his opinion based upon developing facts is, indeed, rare.

By the way the South Carolina Obamacare Co-Op became the 9th to fail this week.
Ref: ABC News

One can find an excellent exposition addressing the inevitable fate of Obamacare at National Review: "Obamacare Enters a Downward Spiral as Co-ops Fail and Enrollment Slows".
Excerpts:
". . .co-op customers and insurers are not the only ones facing problems. After Obamacare drove up the price of individual-market insurance by 49 percent in 2014, and then caused millions of people to see double-digit increases, again, this year and next, new-enrollee projections plummeted."
"Obamacare disproportionately incentivizes people to enroll who have higher health costs and qualify for larger subsidies. As their costs to the health-care system continue to rise, so do the premiums on healthier and wealthier enrollees in traditional, non-co-op plans. Understandably, the latter then enroll in smaller numbers."

Oh, and of course there was one other thing, . . . if one must employ deception to pass legislation, one should not be surprised when reality leads to failure: "Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage".

DonDiego is not surprised.
If Chilly were around, there's a good likelihood that he would call you a liar.

I'm sorry to hear that malibber. That kind of hit would make a lot of people choose between taking food off the table or going without medical insurance. Did that level of rate increase hit your whole state or area or is it related to you personally (age/income changes)? Did you make sure it wasn't an error? Are there any other options for medical insurance (different plan/carrier/HMO).
Do you get to keep you doctor?
Did you check the exchange or just go by what your insurance company said? Because sometimes there's a big difference. I believe every word you say - but it does seem at massive odds with the state averages. Just curious - whats the monthly dollar amount of the premium?

Most Indiana premiums either dropped or increased single digits

Average proposed rate changes for insurance plans sold in Indiana through HealthCare.gov in 2016:

MDwise Marketplace Inc.: 19 percent decrease

IU Health Plans: 16.5 percent decrease

Celtic Insurance Co. (selling Ambetter plans): 7.44 percent decrease

CareSource Indiana Inc.: 5.05 percent decrease

Anthem Insurance Companies Inc.: 3.8 percent increase

All Savers Insurance Co.: 6.5 percent increase

Southeastern Indiana Health Organization Inc.: 6.7 percent increase

Physicians Health Plan of Northern Indiana Inc.: 14.5 percent increase

Time Insurance Co. (selling Assurant Health plans): 26 percent increase
