6. If no changes are made to Obamacare, it will eventually death spiral. I suspect we are in the start of that now. I will be very curious to see what the actual enrollment numbers are for 2016. I am expecting to see a decrease. HHS says they are only expecting enrollments to grow by 900,000.

DonDiego is not entirely certain that malibber2 actually believes "The death spiral is coming." DonDiego believes it, . . . but for someone on the internets to change his opinion based upon developing facts is, indeed, rare.
It remains rare for someone on the internets to change his opinion.

Yeah, i "picked and chose" the collective statstics of Indiana...and Forkush "picked and chose" the collective statistics of all states.

But boilerman has a more comprehensive dataset to consider: his friend nick.

I went to IU Healthcare's site and MD Wise’s site. What I learned is that generally, they don’t offer coverage in the same places. Namely, the rural southern parts of our state. So while those folks in Marion county enjoy only modest increases in their premiums, us poor hillbillys get screwed again. I noticed nobody seems eager to offer coverage in Scott County either. I wonder why?

Anyway, I am hopeful that at least one of those companies that announced premium decreases will offer coverage in my little Podunk, but I suspect the insurance companies will keep on gaming the system. Nobody offers coverage in the rural poor counties other than screw cross, and then they jack up the premiums and deductibles so high that as a practical matter nobody can afford the policies even with the feds chipping in a share. The marketplace is supposed to be functioning again tomorrow, so I should be able to find out what my options for getting screwed next year are.

orchid went to the single payer governmnent system where he now pays 1/2 for prescription drugs compared to pre-obamacare. Wouldnt it be great if that was the system for everyone?

Pj is referring to the system that along with SS has a $50t long term deficit

It would be great if Obama and friends weren't liars, and if PJ didn't dodge the question.

PJ brags about how cost effective that today's plan is, yet the debt for the program is to be paid by our kids. How Liberal of PJ.

Ahh, . . . but there are possible solutions:

F'rinstance,

Solution 1 (addressing the shortage by altering one tax/expenditure):
" . . . starting today, raise Federal Income Taxes (individual and corporate) by 69%. Or we could, starting today, raise payroll taxes by 95%. Or we could immediately and permanently cut federal discretionary spending by 106%, which, of course, is infeasible. Or we could immediately and permanently cut Social Security and medicare benefits by 45%."

Solution 2 (addressing the shortage by altering several taxes/expenditures:
". . . we could simultaneously raise income taxes by 17%, raise payroll taxes by 24%, cut Federal purchases by 26%, and cut Social Security and Medicare benefits by 11%."

Ref: The Coming Generational Storm

DonDiego does not anticipate members of the present Congress or Administration to enact either of these solutions or a comparable variant.
DonDiego does not expect any Congress or Administration to enact any effective solution.

Orchid just transitioned to the insurance benefit he earned by paying Medicare taxes for 45 years. That system IS the system for everyone who pays into it for 45 years. You want the benefit part without the earning it first part. Just be patient. You'll get your earned benefit eventually. Maybe.
