LOL My Obamacare Premium is going up 50% in 2016

The problem with Obamacare is that the numbers simply do not work. You can take a range of average incomes in this country and then calculate what the premium would have to be to make a policy profitable. You end up with premiums that are more than 20% of people’s gross income. That is with high deductibles and high out of pocket costs.

The private part of Obamacare took a vestige (private insurance) and said, “Ok we are going to save private for profit insurance from obsolesce. We are going to guarantee profits and customers. We will give the customers premium assistance, so they can afford the premiums. We also promise not to do anything to hurt the profitability of pharmaceutical companies, the hospital industry or doctors. In fact, we are going to promise they will continue to get at least a 10% raise every year regardless of economic reality.”
It doesn’t take a genius to see something like that can’t work.

On the other hand, what is working is the socialist part of Obamacare, the Medicaid expansion. Even Alabama and Louisiana are ready to hop on board. So I’d ask conservatives what they are going to replace the private marketplace component of Obamacare with when it fails? Hillary has offered a $5,000 tax credit for out of pocket costs as an acknowledgment of Obamacare’s sky high out of pocket costs, but that solution is weak sauce as the insured would still have to front the out of pocket cost plus to insurance premium to get the tax credit. Republicans in the almost six years since Obamacare has passed, have failed to come up with any alternative.
Why is Medicaid working?
People should be funding HSA's to offset the high cost of deductibles. I started this 5 years ago and have ~$12,000 of tax free money to fund medical expenses that are under the deductible amount. Maybe the government should match HSA money contributed by people with income under some income threshold.

HSA's work because you are spending YOUR money for medical expenses so you need to make smart decisions. High deductibles are a necessity for most folks with the high cost of medicine in America. Healthcare insurance is designed to cover a catastrophe, not every expense. With a proper catastrophic health insurance program, people will not longer be bankrupted by a $100,000 heart surgery bill, but they may need to pay $7000 out of pocket.....because nothing is free.

If malibber2's assessment is accurate it suggest questions:

__Was The Obama aware of the real numbers analysis as presented by malibber, . . . and thus just lied to pass the legislation at the behest of his political handlers? That is, was he willfully dishonest with the American people?

OR

__Was The Obama incapable of even understanding that Obamacare "numbers simply do not work", . . . and thus he just did as his political handlers directed him to pass the legislation? That is, was he just ignorant and obedient?

OR

__Was The Obama willfully dishonest and ignorant on the matter?

DD is being coy. Everyone understood when Obama made his promises regarding Obamacare that he was lying. Some didn't and don't care.

Maybe it's just me, but eveytime someone misspells "Obama" purposefully, I think they are childish and trite.

I missed my company's healthcare meeting because I'm in Vegas. Will know the new prices next week. Hope I get to keep my doctor.
In response to DD's post, I'm gonna go with A) He knew and lied purposely. Remember even Time magazine thought this and awarded him "Lie of the Year".

Also anyone else remember this little bit of truth that surfaced?

Obamacare Architect: Yeah, We Lied to The "Stupid" American People to Get It Passed

"Meet Jonathan Gruber, a professor at MIT and an architect of Obamacare. During a panel event last year about how the legislation passed, turning over a sixth of the U.S. economy to the government, Gruber admitted that the Obama administration went through "tortuous" measures to keep the facts about the legislation from the American people, including covering up the redistribution of wealth from the healthy to the sick in the legislation that Obamacare is in fact a tax. The video of his comments just recently surfaced ahead of the second open enrollment period for Obamacare at Healthcare.gov.

"You can't do it political, you just literally cannot do it. Transparent financing and also transparent spending. I mean, this bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO scored the mandate as taxes the bill dies. Okay? So it’s written to do that," Gruber said. "In terms of risk rated subsidies, if you had a law which said that healthy people are going to pay in, you made explicit healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passed. Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really really critical to get for the thing to pass. Look, I wish Mark was right that we could make it all transparent, but I’d rather have this law than not."

"A few points. 1. Notice how lying to the American people is completely justified by Obama administration standards so long as the ends justify the means. Gruber would "rather have this law than not," and therefore purposely lying about what the law actually is in order to get it passed is completely acceptable. regardless of the negative effects it has on the lives of Americans. 2. Lack of transparency might be a huge political advantage in the short term, but long term there are consequences from voters, which is exactly what we saw last week during the Democrat blood bath at every level of government across the country. 3. Insulting Americans as stupid and deceiving them is a really good way to lose your power on Capitol Hill, which is again exactly what we saw last week in the 2014 midterms. Twenty-eight Senators who voted for Obamacare are now out of the Senate for one reason or another. 4. Obamacare in its entirely was "sold" on lies. From the promise to keep your doctor to claims insurance rates would go down, not up -- to hiding that the legislation was in fact a tax until of course it was necessary to argue it was a tax to save the legislation at the Supreme Court. Government bureaucrats promising an expansion of care knowing care under Obamacare would be limited, etc. Hell, even the official name for Obamacare, "The Affordable Care Act," is a lie. Obamacare isn't affordable. 5. The process through which Obamacare was shoved through and down the throats of the American people happened as a result of Harry Reid changing Senate rules and without the support of voters. The legislation didn't receive a single Republican vote in the House or the Senate. "
