Longest Streak Without A Royal Flush?

Super Bowl weekend will mark two years for me without a Royal Flush. I know that's probably not among the longest. Just wondering what other horror stories are out there...

Not sure it should be measured in calendar time as much as time on the machines. If you only play twice a year and don't get a royal that is quite different than someone who plays twice a week for a year and does not get a royal

but they are a scarce commodity

true: the more you play, the more youll get. but it is also true that if you "push" the royals that you will get more than others.

"pushing royals" has been described by Bob Dancer in his tournament strategy -- in which you only hold "royal cards." while that might work for a tourney, you dont want to break up KKKKA to hold only AK in non tournament play. (and that is an extreme example because I dont think you would break that up in tournament play either.)

You're about due. I didn't hit my first royal until 1998 and had been playing VP in casinos since casinos started offering the game.

Even with optimum play, it's still a matter of being at the right machine at the right time. Casino choice can at least seem to make a difference too. I've stayed at the South Point twice and hit a royal both stays. My last stay there, I hit a progressive royal less than 30 minutes after checking in.

I have only hit one RF in my life on VP. That was at the Gold Coast 15-17 years ago. I was only playing .05 cents per spin at the time. Our gambling budget was only around $50 per day so so we played 5 cent VP for hours. Over the years our budget expanded and i began to learn about progressives and max coin in bets. I now play .25 max coin and have consistently for the past 5 years. have never hit one.
Maybe on our next trip in April.

Should add that I have had one RF at a poker table. The Orleans around 5 years ago. They used to give out jackets when you hit one. problem was, they didn't have one that would fit my fat a$$. Got one for my wife.

YES !! I hit my first Royal in this lifetime after many hours of play over the years on December 30, 2010.

It was on a five play 25 cent Video Poker machine at the Horseshoe/Harrah's in Bosiier City LA.

Now I feel that I was way overdue and anticipate many more in the future as I do play often!

talking about royals at LIVE poker games. About a year ago in a midnight tournament at Caesars I had TWO royals and quad aces once. talk about luck.

but I didnt know this: when you are last to act and have the absolute nuts in a tournament, you must make a bet (this is a Tournament Directors Association Rule). Well, I didnt know I had the royal-- I thought it was just a straight. I was in last position and did not bet. When we turned over our cards -- me and three other players -- and the dealer announced "royal" the tournament director standing behind me said "that will be a penalty sir."

He then explained the rule to me which I had no idea even existed.

Later in the same tournament I got a second royal. And then at the final table the quad aces.

Damn. My total win at the tournament was about $1800. I can only dream of what those hands would have given me at VP. LOL
