Looking for info about RIO

I haven't been on here in years and am finally going back to Vegas. Have nights comp at the Rio, never stayed there so I'm looking for any insight about the hotel/casino/dining that anyone can shed some light on. I've read they don't supply coffee to the rooms but a coffee maker, does anyone know if it is a K-cup or regular coffee maker so I can bring my own and if I need to bring my own coffee cup? Don't feel like paying $6-8 for this at the hotel. Thank you all for your comments.
My last stay at RIO was before the K-Cup era. Even then the rooms were beginning to show their age a little bit. I'm not aware of any recent renovations but could be wrong. Its still a nice hotel but past its prime.

I've had more recent experiences with the rest of the resort.

- They revamped the Carnival in the Sky show at 10PM. Its now a nice mix of the floats plus a stage show. One of the better free shows in Vegas

- Seafood buffet is not as good as it used to be IMO. Other people would disagree and say its as good as ever. Maybe I went on a bad night.

- Casino is lousy. Tight, dated machines. Lousy VP. High minimums at the tables with bad rules. Go accross the street and play at the Palms...or next door at Gold Coast.

- Gotta love the voodoo lounge. You can get in there on weekdays without it being ridiculously crowded which makes for a better experience. Weekends are a little crazy

Have fun!
I'll be there in a few weeks. Never stayed there before but liked the casino last year and they are showing us a lot of love with very cheap room rates.
Agree completely with PJ.

The show in the sky is now done. It ended earlier this year.

The rooms are k-cups ready and they provide free green mountain k-cups and regular coffee cups on the diamond floors. If you are on a regular floor you get paper cups and have the option to buy the green mountain k-cups from the mini bar, I think $8 for two.

The hotel has pet stay rooms in the Mardi Gras tower. I prefer the Impanema Tower. I know they have done a lot of room upgrades so most rooms are likely updated.
They really stopped their show? It was one of the better attractions at the RIO. I used to go ther when it first opened. Stayed at every tower in the place. I usd to love the original tower which had a window in the bathroom where you could watch the TV in the bedroom!
Ask for pool view, high floor, Ipenema Tower. Rooms have Keurigs and paper coffee cups. No charge for coffee diamond and above.
Feb - machines were very generous, March Madness - NOT!
They do use K Cups in the room. Standard room comes with 1 or 2 free cups, the rest you can purchase through the mini bar for some ridiculous price. You can also get them in the gift shop the in masquerade section of the casino and they are about 99 cents each. The room was nice when we stayed there, beds comfy, not much noise. Slots are tight, video poker is a joke. Stay there and gamble elsewhere.
Thank you all for the info. I bought K Cups today to bring with me.
