American Coney Island Hot Dogs

Real Chili Has No Beans
To each her own, but I didn't like this place. I don't what to say, other than the dogs didn't taste good and the place was dirty................or at minimum not picked up. There was trash on the floor and dirty tables. Please understand also, that I lived in Cincinnati for 15 years, and love chili cheese dogs.

The steak joint in the D, on the other hand, is one of my all time favorite restaurants.
The D coney place is not cheap. Even with the coupon you are going to pay close to $10 for two dogs, fries, and a drink. Nathan's on the strip is even worse. If you are spending more than $2 on a standard size dog you are getting fleeced

I have to agree here but then again I grew up and went to school around fantastic chili dog places where 2 for a buck was the going price. Granted that was a while ago and prices now are about a buck and a quarter to fifty cents. A dozen was five bucks. I remember one party weekend when some friends came to visit, we got several dozen, I had the bottomless pit appetite that day, I lost count at ten, think I polished off a cool dozen.
I don't care for the place, nothing special about it at all. it is a .99 cent coney at best. the 3 a.m. drunk crowd seems to like it, but at that hour, choices are limited. there are "better quality" dogs out there. for the premium price that they are charging, they should be serving up a better product at least. of course, Vegas never runs out of drunken tourists, so they don't have to rely on repeat customers. I have seen good reviews about the brownie, and I do have a sweet tooth. I may try that the next time (aug. 11-17).

Just today I ordered 2 hot dogs at Sheetz and I had them add mustard, relish, & onions. They were great.
The cost? It set me back $1.06.

Funny, coincidence(or whatever), I went to lay down and Travel Channel's food paradise was on with hot dogs being the topic and sure enough featured American Coney Island Hot Dogs and Lafeyette coney dogs from Detroit leading off the show. They're next door to each other and have been for a hundred years. Sure enough the show made me Jonesing for a good chili dog.

A good cheap chili dog is hard to find. As long as they are not Skyline or Goldstar, I dislike those 2 like the plague.
