I have to agree here but then again I grew up and went to school around fantastic chili dog places where 2 for a buck was the going price. Granted that was a while ago and prices now are about a buck and a quarter to fifty cents. A dozen was five bucks. I remember one party weekend when some friends came to visit, we got several dozen, I had the bottomless pit appetite that day, I lost count at ten, think I polished off a cool dozen.

Just today I ordered 2 hot dogs at Sheetz and I had them add mustard, relish, & onions. They were great.
The cost? It set me back $1.06.

You can't go wrong with good and cheap cuisine. Is it convenient to get to? Does Sheetz offer complimentary valet parking by any chance?

There are no Shitz in Nevada....

I didn't think 4.59 was expensive, compared to a lot of things in Vegas.
I like the American Coney Dog. It has a nice snap to it.

They're so convenient that around here we call all of them a convenience store.
I'm a whale so YES I get complimentary parking. Money talks.

I love Skyline. Gold Star..............not so much.

To each her own, but I didn't like this place. I don't what to say, other than the dogs didn't taste good and the place was dirty................or at minimum not picked up. There was trash on the floor and dirty tables. Please understand also, that I lived in Cincinnati for 15 years, and love chili cheese dogs.

The steak joint in the D, on the other hand, is one of my all time favorite restaurants.

A good cheap chili dog is hard to find. As long as they are not Skyline or Goldstar, I dislike those 2 like the plague.

I've heard that Sheetz is considering a $4 resort fee.

I love a good hot dog. I wonder where they get their hot dogs in AC?? They are the diameter of a pencil. I have never seen such skinny hot dogs in my life!!!! Coney Island dogs are a staple in Fall River MA, where residents for some reason all have a New York accent. It's very odd!!! Instead of pahk the cah, it's New Yawwwwk...............must be like the Bermuda triangle of Massachusetts or something.
I hardly ever eat hot dogs anymore, because I know some of the by products that go into the cheaper ones. A hot dog has to either be labeled as being kosher (I'm not Jewish, but know what the "kosher" title means) or it has to come from a place like a butcher shop. Beware of cheap hot dogs.
Just a note on Kosher grade foods. As a chemical sales rep, I sell several Kosher grade products. Propylene glycol is a largest seller, for example. PG is used both in industrial applicatations (think green antifreeze), and also in many food applications. Just because it's used in antifreeze, this doesn't make at unsafe for consumption. Remember, the antifreeze mix in your car won't work until the chemical is combined with water, and apparently water is safe to drink.

Now to the Kosher thing. This service, best I can tell is partially legitamate, and partially a scam. The Rabbi comes to our plant, views it periodically, never finds an issue, and then blesses the operation..................charging a hefty fee after each monthly visit. The FDA certified "White Room" that we operate, fills one grade of propylene glycol in drums, some of which we sell is Kosher, and some which we sell as Food Grade. Same exact product, same exact filling line, but the kosher grade carries a 3 cent per pound premium. The kosher buyers need to pay our cost for the Rabbi.

Now, the guy making Kosher power bars and buying PG, the Rabbi goes there and will guarantee a certain level of quality also. They do assure some level of quality (so does the FDA), but it's also a way for the Rabbi to fleece business for cash.

The Hot Dog cart at the Gold Coast Sports Book serves up an all beef dog that is not only tasty, but also a great deal for $1.50 !!!

Rick

Edited to add: The Orleans Sports Book has the $1.50 dog also.
