Luxor? Good, Bad?

Have an offer to stay there for two nights...it would be a double booking (staying off strip), but comes with freeplay and we have never stayed there. looking for opinions/comments on rooms bedding ( like Orleans? or is it better? flat screen TV?) fitness center worthwile...nice size pool? Would you eat there or dine elsewhere?
There is a 20 per day resort fee, for internet and fitness, phone calls (which always makes me laugh, isnt that outdated now?)

The pyramid rooms are about ten to fifteen years overdue for a complete overhaul. If you stay there, be sure to stay in a tower room. Tower rooms now are more expensive than Pyramid rooms, but they are much nicer. If you get a Pyramid room in the summer, you may never be able to get the room temp. below 80 degrees.

I used to stay in the Luxor all the time. I used it more as my place to sleep and generally went over to the Mandalay Bay to gamble, watch sports, or watch bands.

Avoid the pyramid rooms - the slanted ceiling makes you dizzy and the rooms are shabby. The tower is ... ok....nothing special...think Monte Carlo.

Good location with plenty of good food/entertainment options in the immediate neighborhood make up for Luxor's subpar rooms IMO. Plus they have a pretty groovy pool.

Remember you will likely not be in the room that much with the lights on, etc. So book it and play there some. Just remember the casino is laid out in a big circle, it can get confusing walking around through it trying to find your way. I had a little problem with hookers working the hall between the tower elevators and casino so don't offer a pretty girl a light when she ask... unless.

Thanks for the tower advice. I called and they did have us in a pyramid room. Got it switched!

Tower is better. I stayed there often until they started detheming, then put the new bar in the middle of the casino. After that I hated gambilng there - it destroyed the old atmosphere. Best thing about Luxor is the free tram to MB and Excal - for easy access to NYNY and MGM.

The deli is really good there.
