luxor or new york new york

we are planning a trip to vegas in june and have made reservation at the luxor but after reading the reviews we are thinking of staying at new York new York instead. is the luxor as run down as they say? and would new York new York be a better place to stay . thanks for any info.

You should probably do NYNY. The Luxor Pyramid rooms are now in such disrepair that they should be ashamed of themselves. I used to think the tower rooms were nice, but the Luxor has let them slip and they are now cutting expenses, with combined shampoo/conditioner, single drinking glass, no valet person to take your ticket, etc.

Its weird how the same company can let one of their properties fall down and keep the property next door in good shape. luxor still has some good shows...and thats about the only positive thing to say about it nowadays.

would the excalaber be better ?

How about this? Dont laugh. Circus Circus has been refreshed and the tower rooms are quite nice. And the casino has been refreshed too. I'd stay there before Excal.

No, but Mandalay Bay would be much better. Except for their exception steak house, I avoid Circus Circus. There are a couple hundred rug rats at any given time that you will see. I believe minors are not allowed to be in the casino area, but I've watched parents on slot machines while their young child (probably 4 or 5 years old) was sleeping on the floor near them.

CC has the old time decor. The rooms may be improved but the casino and shops are still old time.

NyNY had an overhaul a couple years ago. I'd stay there...it's a short walk to lots of other casino's too. Just an FYI, the pool area was really "generic" by vegas standards though. The Monte Carlo and MGM have nice pools though.

Depends on what you're looking for. NYNY has a more "young and happening" crowd and has a more party atmosphere. Gallagher's Steak House is great and their NY Pizza place right across from Coyote Ugly has some great pizza and garlic bread. The rooms at NYNY are way better than at Luxor but the standard rooms are small. If you enjoy a casino with a party atmosphere after 10 p.m. including loud music NYNY is the place to be. NYNY is absolutely not your choice if you want to hang out at the pool. Their pool area blows big time. Small amount of beds and the pool is in the shade for a large part of the day.

The pool area at Luxor is great, the rooms are pretty run down but clean, room rates at Luxur are lower, casino is bigger and not as loud. Completely different atmosphere.

I would pick nyny over Luxor and excaliber. And I would pick mandalay over all of them. My 2 cents
