The Luxor rooms?

Well, looks like we are taking my parents on our anniversary trip at the end of the month. I think it's a good thing, since they never go anywhere. They haven't been to Vegas in 19 years. I started going 3 years ago, so I am sure things have changed in 19 years.

Anyway, what do you think of Luxor rooms? I booked a great deal at $105 for 3 nights in a deluxe pyramid room. Which was the cheapest room available. I have never stayed there before. My mom is the type that doesn't care where she stays as she is a gambler. My girlfriend and I are staying at THEhotel which is next door. I booked Luxor because it is all I can afford after booking THEhotel for ourselves. And it's connected to Mandalay Bay which is nice.

The last few times I stayed in a Pyramid room, I realized they are in great need of refurbishing. First of all, I went in the summer each time. Each room has it's own air conditioner/heater. I could not bring the room down to under 80 degrees. The curtains were broken and water stained, meaning there was probably some kind of leak at the windows. The bathrooms had peeling wallpaper, and the cheap hollow bathroom door had holes in it. Near the elevators (or what they call inclinators) plaques had been torn off of the wall and there was scratched on grafitti inside the elevators.

The tower rooms were built after the pyramid rooms and have since been refurbished. I liked the tower rooms much better, even though most of them don't have very good views.

IMHO, I think you should treat your parents to THEHotel and you stay at Luxor;try to upgrade to tower for free at check-in. You guys can stay at THEHotel in the future and will give your parents a really memorable trip.But, it is your anniversary so that may be a hard decision.

I stayed there three years ago on a comp for one night until I could move over to TI for a week but I must agree with RM as to the condition of the rooms and I will add it was the worst bed I have ever slept on.

You do make a good point there. I love my mom and dad. But I have to live with my woman, not them This is our anniversary, not to sound selfish.

My dad wanted to go on our last trip, in which I was going to get 2 rooms at the Mandalay Bay, but mom didn't want to go. She had too much going on with her properties at the time. Maybe I can get a free upgrade to a tower room for them instead, if front desk will let me.

Stay in the tower room. They are much nicer.

I agree, the tower rooms are much nicer. A little walk, but worth it. Work some magic by giving the desk it's there anniversary, birthday or something. It will probably work out for you and them. Good luck!!! and have a great trip.

Just to let you know the Luxor doesn't have WIFI if that's not a problem to you!

If Luxor doesn't have WIFI, what's the resort fee for then? That would be a problem for us!!!!

According to the information on Luxor's website the resort fee includes wifi. (under FAQ)
