LVA Nascar Fantasy League (2011)

YESSSS!!!

Its about that time folks! Time to hear the roaring of 43 engines going speeds in excess of 200MPH at Daytona.

I can't wait!

A number of you have already asked me, if I was going to run the LVA fantasy league this season again, and I said HELL YEAH!

This contest is open to all past fantasy league participants, and any new ones that want to join as well.

Just like last year, there will be an option to pay to play this year, or simply to play for free.

The Nascar League has been set up and I am just waiting for folks to sign up and join the group.

This year's format is different then last years... They went back to the format that I really liked. One where they give you a salary cap, and you have to make that money work for five drivers. That'll weed out certain folks, who picked the same drivers every week, and did OK last year. heh heh

I wasn't too crazy about last years format, and I am glad to see they made the change! It will be more of a thinking mans game now! Yeee haww!!

Last year, they seperated the drivers between 2 groups and you had to pick 3 drivers from one group and 2 drivers from another group with no salary cap.

This year your team is given 100 million fantasy bucks and you had to buy 5 drivers that were valued differently based on skills and wins, every week and you had to stay under the salary cap of 100M with out going over every week.

The better your drivers do in any given race, the more points you get towards your segment totals.

Just like last year, there will be 3 segments of racing this season, and this fantasy league runs all 3 segments seperatley in 3 individual contests. We pay out the top 3 spots at a 60% for first, 30% for 2nd and 10% for 3rd place of total funds collected for each segment.

**newly added this year, due to popular demand....we're going to implement an "OVER ALL" winner as well this year.** This "over all" contest will be the sum of all your points for all 3 segments in the 2011 Nascar season. The prize structure will remain the same as the individual segment pay offs 60% for 1st, 30% for 2nd and 10% for 3rd ...of total funds collected for each segment.

Those who are interested in this option, must pay their (extra) $20 bucks at the start of the season, no exceptions.

Or you could just pay the $80 bucks to cover the whole 36 nascar races which includes all 3 segments plus the "over all" contest.

Just one simple rule for the over all....The "over all" contest particpant must use the same Fantasy League account for all 3 segments. If you forget the password, you can't just create another account, continue playing, and expect me to tally the different segment results for different accounts. All three segments must be played by the same account!

FYI...Segment #1 is 11 races long.....Segment #2 is 15 races long, and Segment #3 is 10 races long.

Also wanted to add that if you forget to change your line up, picked a driver that wasn't racing that week, or forget to setup a line up when the segments get cleared out, at the end of each segment, but you already paid....thats your problem. There will be no refunds!

If you do forget your password...contact ESPN and they will reset it for you.

***If you are interested in entering this contest, for free or pay to play for cash prizes, please feel free to PM me and I will send you the league invite with all of the information on how to pay.

I wanted to thank the kind folks that particpated in last years contest, and made this an exciting Fantasy game to be involved with.

Expect more of the same for this year, and I hope we can get this game loaded with good, friendly, competitive, shit talking, folks, and make it a HUGE POT to play for this year!

Thank you, and Good luck!

Of course I'm in. ALLLLLLLL the way in !

I'll check with Mr "No5Peat" too.

Oh !!! and please, no 6 peat this year.

Zignuts

Ummm... I have some questions.

Are things like pit crews included, do we pick our mechanics, tire changers, jack men, etc? Cause I'd have no idea at all about who the best jack up person is.

Are points awarded for completed laps, or just win, place, show? Pit stop times, fuel mileage, etc?

I don't really understand enough about NASCAR to gamble, but might be willing to play the free version.

Is it required to change or trade "players" during or between segments, or are your initial picks good for the entire season if they start under the salary cap?

Is Danica Patrick a NASCAR driver? If so, I call "dibbs".

If not, I still call "dibbs".

thanks

I'll break the scoring down for the rookies that want to join.

It really isn't that complicated, and you can check in with ESPN.COM and get more info that way if you wish.

Basically...you setup an account, and you join a league. In this case...its the LVA league.

Every week, that there is a Nascar race, you get to choose 5 drivers who you think will do well at any given race.

Your team starts with 100M fantasy bucks, and each driver has a monetary value assigned to them. So you can't just pick the 5 best drivers, because you won't be able to afford them. You have to pick a couple top drivers, a couple mid-range drivers and one low status driver.

Once you have your five drivers picked out and you remain UNDER the 100M salary cap, then you are ready for the race to start.

Points are given, after the race, to your team based on where each of your five drivers finished in that race.

With this years new points system for Nascar....drivers will get 43 points for finishing in first place, 42 for 2nd place, 41, for 3rd place, and so on until the 43rd place car which will get 1 point.

If your 5 drivers finish in the bottom 5, then YOUR team will only get 15 points for that week.

The better your drivers finish, the better your score will be.

At the end of the segment, all your races for this segment will be totaled and the top 3 teams get the bucks!

There is no tire changers, gas men, crew chiefs or nothing like that....just PICK five drivers.

You can change your drivers as many times as you want, up until the race goes off.

So it pays to see how good or bad a driver does during qualifying, practice or happy hour, and make changes if needed.

The only warning is that if you get 5 drivers that put you OVER the 100M salary cap, you'll be given a ZERO for having an illegal line up.

The ESPN web site is good about letting you know that you are OVER the cap. It shows big red buttons and warnings, so don't think that its easy to get shafted....its not.

Hope that helped, and we'll see you on the track!

OK, I joined and picked a team. Spent $93.00 of the $100 max.

hope i did everything right.

Can I still have Danica Patrick?

Um...

When the winner crosses the finish line, is the race over or are they still racing for the finish order? And if someone wrecks, do they have any chance of getting points for the laps they ran or are they totally out of that race?

And is trash talking allowed?

tnx

BEWARE:

Beginners Luck will strike this league. May as well just give me the prize now.

Ready to go here. Everyone join and make it a huge pot.

Welcome Mr Trip.

Your donation & required B.S. is greatly appreciated but remember, they are not tax deductable.

May I offer some suggestions for your future picks: Norm Benning, Ted Musgrave & Derrick Cope just to name a few . "You can take them to the bank". (using a Rizzo phrase)

I'm sure some of the other experts in our league will have other recommendations.

Ziggy

Roadtrip...you can only have Danica as a driver, if she enters a CUP race this year.

Regarding finishing points....the drivers will be racing for position until all the cars that still can, actually do cross the line.

ESPN uses the official results as posted by Nascar, to distribute points to the fantasy league teams.

Hey,

I did not "donate" any real money, I'm in this for bragging rights. My reference to $93.00 was the amount my five driver team salary is. (espn showed on my puter as up to $100.00, not $100,000 salary cap)

I would not put real money on this. Don't you realize what I could do with $20.00 real cash money?

Besides, I don't even remember who I picked an hour ago, and most likely will keep the same "team" all year, unless someone get a concussion and has to sit out a few games. Ooops, I meant to say in an accident and has to miss a race or more. sorry, my backspace key must be broken again.

At the moment, and being a total novice with no knowledge of racing except they have a checkered flag and hot women handing over trophies and drive around in circles or ovals all day, I am pleased to announce that according to the current league standings, ....

I am in a multi way tie for FIRST Place!

Beginners luck rules!

So far this season, my team has been doing great. OK, so some others are a little lucky too, and have me tied for first place.

That will change. You can take that to the bank.
