Yes he was. He used to burn the steelers pretty regular but I still respected him as a player and great receiver, then came the big head and name change bullshit that comes with players thinking they're bigger than the team and I've thought hes' been an asshole ever since.

Chad, "stinko" stunk up the Bengals.

Not true at all, he was great with the Bengals. He sucked last season with the Pats.

Last two seasons with the Bengals:

139 receptions 1,878 yards 13 TD's

Here's the full picture before the pats:

2001 23 CIN wr 85 12 3 28 329 11.8 1 28 2.3 27.4
2002 24 CIN WR 85 16 14 69 1166 16.9 5 72 4.3 72.9
2003* 25 CIN WR 85 16 14 90 1355 15.1 10 82 5.6 84.7

2010 32 CIN WR 85 14 12 67 831 12.4 4 42 4.8 59.4

Note the yardage from 2002 until 2007 Also note from 2003 - 2007 the number of catches stayed at 90 or above. (except for 2006)

Last 3 seasons at Cincy, he STANK!

As a Bears fan I must have lower expectations for WR's. After leaving the Bears Musin Mohammed said "Chicago is where receivers go to die".

Chad's second to last season with the Bengals 2009:
72 receptions, 1,047 yards, 9 TD's.

In Chicago those are monster numbers, I guess in Cincinnati they stink. Don't get me wrong, I'm not predicting greatness for Chad X in Miami, just saying he didn't really suck until last season with the Pat's.

'51 when you average 1300+ yards, and 90+ catches a year, anything less is a bad season.

Besides, as a Bengals fan once you post those kinda of numbers, people expect for you to be close to that every year and keep your trap shut. Chad, didn't know how to shut the hell up and just play ball. Hell, even TO learned that lesson.

In order to keep the fans off his back, Chad needed to post big numbers. Otherwise, he's just another Corey Dillon. Leave to go somewhere else to fade away.

Look, we've had decades where the team sucked so bad, we looked up to the Tampa Bay Bucks. Once Kitna came to town, the fans have come to expect more out of the team. (at least a wining season or 2 in a row) We all know that Mike Brown won't spend crap on the team and it was an outright SHOCK when he picked up Palmer and PAID him market value!! Of course that didn't last too long and it wasn't all that unexpected, Brown was going to screw it up sooner or later. Most of the fans were hoping for the later.
I see your point, but there is a difference between a formerly great player with declining stats, and a player that flat out stinks.

1,000 yards and 9 TD's does not stink. The problem might be that a guy with a mouth that big with declining stats, starts to ware on the fans.

Again I go back to personal experience as a Bears fan. When long time Bears players are on the downside of a career, they are treated with respect based on past performance even if the numbers don't merit. An example is Brian Urlacher, not nearly as good as he used to be, but the fans still love him. He works his ass off, keeps his mouth shut, and taps this:

Didn't Urlacher also do some deap sea skanking with Paris Hilton in an infamous Vegas soiree ? Seems to me I remember some lively press reports about those two 4 or 5 years ago.

Plus, some reports of getting head from the local female talent in a tavern parking lot at training camp

There is a different expectation of players who play for the Bears than the Bengals. The Bears are well known for guys who work their asses off and produce for the "team". Singletary was a prime example, fierce, determined, and hardworking. A guy who put his body on the line to make the play. The fans love these guys and will continue to like them well after they have retired from the NFL.

At Cincy you typically have people who are second tier players who just made it into the NFL. They use Cincy to hone their skills and move on to a better team after their initial contract is over. Over the last 10 years the team has slowly changed into one where the fans are starting to expect these guys to perform. We don't have that tradition other teams have of winning, (well, we DID have some success in the 1980's) so it is rather strange to see the fans react in such a manner.

Chad pisses people off as he can't just play ball and do his job. Houshmandzadeh kept his head down, did his job, and was greatfull for the chance of playing pro ball. He will be respected here in Cincy until the day he dies, Chad won't.
