It is no longer the new kid on the block, but is still a great hotel. Minus 5 is a kick, but not cheap. You should also go and have cocktails at Red Square, where the bar is a sheet of ice. The pool is still probably the best or one of the best in LV. There is a room on the top floor named the "Foundation Room". It is run by the House of Blues. I believe they have a policy of where they will let ladies up for free. The view used to be incredible. I don't know if City Center has ruined that view?
I like House of Blues for breakfast and Red Square is cool place too.
I have stayed at MB four times.

I love Mandalay Bay.
-Love the Foundation Room, Pool, Spa, RM Seafood, Raffles Cafe, the rooms, Stripsteak, Border Grill, the smell, Burger Bar
-Dislike the resort fees, the apathy from the table dealers, lack of room offers, Fleur (Fleur De Lys), Red White & Blue, House of Blues, the increase in room rates.
-Hate the valet. Waited over 30 minutes last time and my car didn't come until I started bitching to the Valet Manager @ the desk.

I will not be staying there again unless they start giving me some good promos/lowering room rates. I love staying there but I think the resort fee they charge is insane. Similar to my feelings to MGM Grand (I love that place too).

The South Strip is quiet and not easily accessible, but it's still fun. Damn resort fees and lack of action. Mandalay Bay is amongst my favorite resorts, but the resort does have its issues. I wish MB was in the center of the strip. It's such a beautiful place to enter and enjoy.

I have two distinctive memories of MB ... the last time I was there was about four years ago.

First, the bathrooms in the high limit slot area are, as I remember them, the BEST in Vegas. the men's room was stocked with toothbrush/toothpaste kits, razors, cloth towels, private soaps, etc. And that helped you clean up before eating at the free buffet. at the time, $1 VP was available in the high limit room.

my second memory is that some of the craps dealers didnt want you to play. they could care less, and didnt want to be bothered. so I never went back.
Hello

Stayed at MB aboot 3 months after opening - they were pouring more cement to shore up the hotel.
Second we had earthquake (that was fun at 1am in the morning seeking everyone rush down from rooms to casino floor.

BUT: it was our home hotel for a year - then we returned and stayed at THE Hotel. The Hotel have great rooms - GF loves the seperate toilet and sink.

Have not stayed there fro 6 years, but going back this Feb. for 2 night free offer.

GOOD:
I do like the Casino, nice and big, not smokey.
Like RM seafood, stripsteak,
Buffet is very good it has one of the better layouts.
Rooms decent size, nice bathrooms, remodelled from 2 years ago.
Still the best pool in Vegas
Connected to Luxor and Excalibur

BAD:
Far away from main strip and monorail (MGM)
Suggestions:
Not too sure how many rooms you are getting - but ask for THE Hotel upgrade.
MB is a good hotel - rooms are really nice, pool area is great. Restaurants are ok - HOB has some great shows. I don't care for the casino - it is big & roomy, but usually so empty it feels like a morgue. Also not fond of the location - too far from anywhere else on the strip you want to be unless you don't mind driving or cabbing it.
Nice place but wouldn't you rather be close to the action? And last summer they decreased the number of days the topless pool was open (new law regarding topless pools and live entertainment). Although I suppose you girls could always come frollic over at my place should you feel the need to bathe like the europeans do. I'm good like that. Look into Caesars or Harrahs before booking MB. Better location and no resort fee.
yo Shecky
Great handle
Check out room rates at THEHotel as they are frequently discounted anymore.

Mandalay has a shuttle that zips you over to Luxor and then to Excalibur - saves you a little bit of walking if you want to hit the strip.
