Mandatory everify or billions for a wall

The real question is there anyone on this site who takes any of PJ's twisted rants and logic seriously?

A wall is useless. Mexicans are already digging tunnels under it.

If anyone is truly serious about stopping illegals, go after the CEO's and executives that hire them.
Give every company 3 months to purge the illegal workers and get their documents in order. Start doing corporate sweeps, and company that has illeagals working for them the CEO and executives get fined 1 million dollars for each infraction and a year in prison, no exceptions.

The illegal problem would be solved rather quickly after a few of these crooked CEO's and executives are made an example of.

No work = no reason to stay here.

We don't have an illegal problem as much as we have an illegal employer problem. Cut off the head of the snake.
Here's the problem with that. Without E-Verify, there's no way for an Employer to know his workers are illegal. Corporations ARE LEGALLY hiring these people. The problem is those working illegally have stolen the Social Security numbers of real American Workers and they have fake ID's. CEO's can't question an employee's identification or social security number....otherwise they'll be sued for discrimination. So without something like E-Verify, how do you propose 'these crooked CEO's and executives are made an example of'?

Of course a lot of the people working here illegally are in the 'Cash Economy'. E-Verify won't do anything about that.

I don't believe either is necessarily bad - although the wall is equivalent to paying people to dig a hole and then fill it in. At least its jobs.

The problem is how they are funded (or not funded). There's been lots of bellyaching on this board from right-wingers crying about "big government spending", "free shit", and "the problem with socialism and other people's money"...blah,blah,blah. At the end of the day nobody loves free shit more than the fiscal conservatives managing the Republican budget...or their cheerleaders on this board.

You can go on one thread here and listen to them cry about shrinking deficits under Obama....and then come onto this thread and watch them cheer for deficit fueling policy from Trump. I don't hear any crybaby rants about government spending or other people's money - both of which describe the Great Wall of Mexico. Is there anyone left that still takes our resident "Rhinos" seriously ?
Here's a concept...Maybe we should wait to see how the debt grows with current administration. We already know that President Obama added more to the Debt than any other President and Bush was number 2. Perhaps his order to cut the Federal Workforce by 20% or Spending by 10% will save a little dough. Doh.

Hey...maybe Trump can build the wall and put a trillion into infrastructure this fiscal year. Then he can blame the massive deficit on President Obama. And when the deficit comes down in his final year, he can claim he 'cut the deficit in half'. That's the ticket.

.

What order are you referring to? the one where he just hired 15K border patrol and immigration officers?

You should pay attention to what Trump does instead of what he says

Once again PJ has plenty of questions without offering any solutions.. Bitch, bitch, bitch...

Well there's two.

There's a federal hiring freeze as part of an executive order that excludes the “military, public safety, and public health.”. Border Security is part of public safety.

There is also a Presidential directive to his incoming staff to reduce costs 10% and staff 20%. Having lived through and implemented many private sector reduction in force directives, that could easily be accomplished in our bloated federal bureaucracy.

After a reasonable timeframe, let's see the impact on the debt of all of the policies rather cherry picking a couple of line items. The issues may go away IF economic growth is revived above the pathetic levels of the last 8 years. IF economic growth slows or goes worse, then we'll be in an even deeper mess. After 30 days, the jury is still out. Except for those who already made up their 'minds' a long time ago.
