Measles

It was almost a passage, a part of growing up. We did get the smallpox vaccination and later polio vaccine. I got vaccinated for MMR when I went to nursing school as it was required.

I'm a boomer too Candy, and I got measles, mumps and chicken pox as a kid. It was a part of life. Sooner or later, you'd get it, got over it, then you couldn't get it again. Natural immunity.

I can't help but wonder if the drive and desire to interfere with the process of natural immunity with human beings concerning illnesses that are typically NOT life threatening or crippling could, over the course of a few more generations, genetically modify, weaken, or even destroy natural immunity.

You do understand, I hope, that correlation and causation are not the same--one of the first rules learned in any research class. It is possible that you only committed the most elementary logical error; it is more likely that you let your xenophobic and nativistic prejudices have free rein and they led you astray yet again.

100% - Leftists MUST ALWAYS throw racism, xenophobia or some other perceived bigotry as being THE REASON for less than leftist opinions.

From the USA CDC website, FAQ section, my favorite answer to a question:

Q: Will the United States ever get rid of measles completely?

A: Yes, it's possible. The first step is to eliminate measles from each country and region of the world. Once this happens, there will be no place from which measles can spread.

CDC Measles FAQs

Measles cases in the USA since 2001, can be directly traced to contact with the disease by Americans traveling outside the USA, or foreigners coming to America, in a very large percentage (almost 90%) of all cases. That means they couldn't trace it back to the source in a small percentage of cases. Investigation of the Disney outbreak hasn't revealed patient #1. With this administration, that doesn't mean that they don't know. With this administration, if patient #1 was a kid from Central America that came across the border during the flood of illegal immigrant children last summer, the truth will never be known.
I read a study on this topic several years ago and the conclusion was that smokers received substantially less social security benefits than non-smokers.

The Unvaccinated should have to pay more for health insurance....just like smokers do.

If Alan approved of Social Security taxes, he would argue that smokers end up on Social Security Disability more frequently than non-smokers so it all works out.

Well, take Tuberculosis. At one point in time, before drugs to treat it were available, TB was virtually eliminated from the landscape due to mandated reporting and quarantine in TB 'sanitoriums' of anyone who was known to have it. Eventually it re-raised it's ugly head, seemingly at a time of increased world travel, increased immigration (legal or illegal) and the appearance of the HIV and opportunistic bugs taking over. But this is a whole different thing, because there is no TB vaccine that I know of. Curative drugs, but no vaccine. Just history.

Just wait until we can do a brain transfer to our mimetic polyalloy bodies. Let's see Measles infect that shit.
