Measuring Change

Riddle me this: Can you make a river LESS polluted, by dumping polluted water into it?

Yes, actually that would be easy to do.

As easy as suing a corporation for "mismanagement" (LOL) because one of its products didn't make a positive ROI?

Not as easy. Filing a lawsuit is very easy, especially if you spend some money to hire a lawyer. You don't even need a basis for the lawsuit to file it.

Dumping polluted water into a river in sufficient quantities to make a significant change in the the level of pollution would take more work. You'd need the polluted water source and a way to transfer it to the river. Still not rocket science, but more difficult than filing a random lawsuit.

Frank, I suspect you will have difficulty with Singer. He laughed at the death of one person who disagreed with him. He has attacked numerous people on the web he doesn't know simply because they supported the math. Yes, I could go on and on but it's not worth any effort. The guy is a poster child for NPD.

He's just misunderstood. Yeah, right.

I have had a lot of difficulty with a lot of people, particularly ones I've slept with. I still date. I have come out of all these situations wiser, occasionally a bit sore, but still wiser. Very few things in life are all good or all bad. Being in the VP advice biz, it is vital that I understand in great depth the counter arguments. My agreement is not required.

Wouldn't you be counter-sued for filing a baseless claim? And wouldn't you then have to defend against the counter suit? Or are you just referring to some fantasy world somewhere? A bit like Warren Jeffs, possibly? Or do you just enjoy spouting nonsense, because it makes you feel better, somehow?

I would hope so. But I see too many disappointing headlines like someone suing and winning because their coffee was hot.

maybe you two could take this bizarre tangent to another thread. What does this even have to do with Frank's subject or this thread? Polluting water? What on earth is going on.

It's cool. I was done with this months thought provoking discussion. Consider the thread open. And kudos to everyone for making it fun and informative. I have a copy of "The Compass of Pleasure" on order.

Next month I think I will tackle what constitutes "a trip". Don't comment on it now, I want to set it up for the maximum possible amount of confusion.
