MGM Grand Mini Bar Fees? What do you guys think about this?

Harrahs had a sign this time that said you could buy the fridge contents for 25 or 35. That is the first time I have seen that. Most of the newer hotels have signs that say if you pick it up for more than 30 seconds you have purchased it.

I think the days of removing and putting your stuff are long gone oh well another memory about the "good old days"
I'm sure we have all had a $25 snack or cocktail from a mini bar and most likely knew how stupid this is, especially in Vegas when most hotels have the exact snack for sale in a shop for a reasonable price.

We always bring a large cooler and a few trash bags. Fill the bags with ice and put your wanna stay cold items between.
DonDiego would seek accommodations in a more hospitable hotel.

It is a moot point for my wife and I, we stay at MGM The Signature

Paris has emptied their minibars, which now means each of the rooms has a mini fridge.

It's crazy the lengths that hotels will go to to abandon hospitality and trap us into their fees.

I imagine a hotel room with a checkboard-print rug just inside the front door, by the bathroom door. Every square black or white.

Well, almost every square. In the middle of the rug is one red square. Now stepping on all the black and white squares is included in the rate. But guests wanting to step on that strategic red one in the middle are charged a nightly Red Carpet Square Convenience Charge (tm) of $35. Of course he charge also applies if the carpet is moved.
Not just the hotels, airlines are almost to the point where I would rather drive. I am old enough to remember when flying was a treat that I looked forward to. IMHO deregulation ruined the airline industry.

Silverton has done the same thing. No more stocked mini bars or snacks on top of the bar.

First time I experienced one of those sensor type devices was at the Wynn. They had them for their snacks.

We were at a place with a minibar and there was a second lower section with nothing in it so we put our beer in there for the night the next afternoon we went to get one of the beers but the cap had popped off because the bottom was a freezer. So we had beersicles.
