MGM parking fees...why is there not more screaming?

In Atlantic City, the Trop charges $10 to park while the Golden Nugget is free to park. The Trop attracts more people. The Trop is a nicer, bigger property. We gambled there a little and we have free parking for a month or two. Before we were Platinum people at CET, we had to pay $5 to park in AC. Then we gambled a little more and earned free parking vouchers for the day. I assume Vegas will work the same way. People that gamble will earn a free parking voucher so they might as well park where it's most convenient. Premium players card holders will get free parking. At a certain price point, most people are not going to schlep 20 minutes to save $x. Whater x is. Vegas casinos like to attract rich folk that like to throw money around. Do you think this type of clientele is going to go 10 minutes or 5 minutes out of their way to save $10 parking fee? They are used to paying for parking.

I'm curious to see how this will play out.
Fees to commence sometime in April and apply to all MGM strip properties.
Locals will supposedly get free parking for a bit longer. Wonder how they will handle handicap self parkers?

Don't like the fees, don't go there. There is no need for screaming. Anything that needs to be said, can be said by keeping your wallet shut.

Do the parking fees apply to all MGM properties or just the MGM Grand?

They belong to all of the properties, but there will be different rates at each one. For instance the Bellagio will charge the most, while I read Circus Circus will have no parking fees.

Here is an on-line petition.

Parking fee petition

I will be going up the last weekend of April, when this is supposed to be in effect. I will not go to any MGM hotel, nor will I dine at any of their restaurants or shop at any of their stores.

I've stayed and played in AC. It is in a bad neighborhood. I did not mind paying for parking while there.

I'm curious how the whole thing is going to work. Sometimes my car stays put in the garage for a couple of days because we don't go anywhere. Will I have to go down and pay every day or just upon exiting? Other days we hit several different properties. Are there in and out privileges and can you show you paid at MGM and still get to park at Bellagio without paying or you have to pay at both?

I'm guessing you take a ticket when entering and will be charged per day when you leave. I did however read that you will be able to go in and out during a 24 hour period and pay one price. I'm guessing one ticket from MGM property is no good at another property. Similar to food credits, there may be parking credits for certain room deals.

The other thing to consider on this is if they are understaffed or if they make you go to a machine and pay your parking. If there is a big back-up of people getting out, there will be a lot of unhappy people.

If a boycott works, Caesars should get a lot of extra business and should not consider parking fees.

While MGM has sugar coated this announcement with the bullshit that they are going to modernize their parking lots, the primary reason for the fees is to build a 60 to 65 million dollar structure behind the Excalibur so that people can park for the new sports arena being built behind NYNY and the Monte Carlo. If this structure is built, I'm guessing they will build another overhead walkway over Tropicana where people can park and go to the events.
Wonder what Rizzo thinks about this

They start in April. Cosmo self parkers will get killed....that garage is nice and now it is nestled between Aria and Bellagio and close to the new Arena.

Not sure if visitors with the MGM players card will get the fees comped....just another reason to say Hello to Harrahs.

Hello there Harrahs????? That's a scary thought.

Ray
Drmilled will have to double his dosage on his little pills with this new rip off fee.
