MGM Signature Suites

I just found out that our next dance trip will be at the MGM and I was considering staying at the Signature Suites and getting the room through VRBO. Some of the listings say its only a quick 5 minute walk to get to the casino floor. Does that sound about right? Has anyone ever stayed there? How far from the casino are the convention areas? I have never been a fan of MGM. I've never stayed there but I just don't like the vibe in the casino. Would NYNY be a better choice for me? Maybe somewhere else on the monorail line?
Julie:I've stayed at the Sig thru VRBO. There are 3 Sig towers: #1 is closest to the MGM Grand, then #2, etc. I was in #1 and it was probably more like a 10 minute walk to the actual casino floor, and I walk at a fairly quick pace. Be sure when you book to confirm which tower you're in. Not sure where your dance convention is at - could be in the ball rooms or possibly in the huge MGM Garden?
The Sig rooms are nice; I'd stay there again. I'm not an MGM player so that's not the appeal - the Sig rooms themselves are enough to get me to return.

Check the MGM/Mirage folder here for various postings about the Sig.

I know that from the 30th floor of the westgate tower(PHo), it looks like like a REALLY LONG WALK just to the back of the MGM. That's where the KA theater and arena are I believe. As mentioned the #3 tower is at the very far back corner of the property which is very considerable.

I stayed in there last year. It is now my favorite place. Having been to LV numerous times the thrill of staying right on the strip isn't there for me. The walk is not bad at all and if you learn the back way out of the property getting to center strip isn't that bad.

This video should answer your question about the walk.

Thanks for all the info! I didn't even think of the possibility that the walk would be indoors in air conditioned splendor. I pictured a very long walk outdoors in the blazing hot sun through parking lots and near stinky dumpsters. This doesn't look too bad at all.

Do the Signature Suites share a pool with MGM Grand?

The Signature has their own pool but you can use the MGM's pool also.

Sounding better all the time. There is still a small chance that we will be going to GVR again. I really hope not. Despite all the good things I had heard about it, I hated it.
My apologies, I assumed you knew that there was a tunnel to the MGM.

GVR is a good locals spot but if you want to enjoy the strip and all it has to offer, GVR might be too far away for that.
It's official! We are going to the competition at the MGM. I'm so glad I don't have to go back to GVR.
