MGM to outsource valet parking

I always thought the Evil Empire was CET. I think MGM has stolen the title by leading the charge to resort fees, establishing paid parking starting in April 2016, and now letting go of their valets and outsourcing. It appears their current valet employees can transfer to the new vendor but I suspect they will be losing some money.

MGM to outsource
I think the article gives the real reason for all of this. It isn't for the purpose of adding new gadgetry and technology to the existing parking lots. It is primarily so they can build a new parking structure behind the Excalibur. Would this new parking structure be primarily for the use of Excalibur guests? NO. It will be for people attending their new sports arena behind NYNY and the Monte Carlo. I'm going up in late April and will plan on banning all MGM resorts if they have gone forward with charging.

As for the outsourcing, you just know there is something that stinks in the deal.
Agreed. They didn't plan quick enough for a parking garage for the new arena so they're assessing the fee because arena-goers will be parking in the hotel garages. And why not leave the valet situation as it is, since those employees will be absorbed by SP+? Sounds like MGM is just looking for another way to to increase their profit. "Improve the guest experience" - yeah, right!

Isn't it their responsibility to increase their profits? That's how capitalism works.

I wonder if there will be people from India parking the cars?
I could see the following happening in the link.

All these companies are looking for "revenue streams" without headaches, like hiring and firing or employee benefits, etc. I think the customer is 3rd or 4th on the list of considerations.

Parking for regular season Yankee games is $30 -45. Parking for the World Series this year was $100 at Taxpayer Field. Park for NY Football game and you are out $40. Parking around Madison Square Garden will set you back at least $30.
Vegas isn't innovating anything, they are entering the modern world.

Except when you go to a game you're not going to lose hundreds or thousands of dollars gambling. (well, I guess you could, just not to them).
I'd bet a doughnut that anyone who regularly lose serious money will not pay for parking.
I've got tickets to see Black Sabbath at MGM Grand Garden in September, but I'm seriously considering selling them. Connie and I will be in Vegas this weekend for the Super Bowl, but we never stay on the strip any more. We'll go to the Bellagio conservatory one last time and then as far as I'm concerned the strip is history.
