Mirage response (finally)

I (finally) received a response from the Mirage! This was in regards to an email I sent them about the incident I described on their table games the first week of April during my trip report, "Late, but LONG report"
Quote

Decided about noon to go across the street to the Mirage and get an Mlife card. Mlife has a collaboration with the Ameristar in Kansas City, they will upgrade your current Ameristar level one level on their players card. Played slots for an hour then went to the tables. Bought in for $100 in red chips on Mississippi Stud and gave the dealer my players card which she called out to the pit boss. I had played about 45 minutes and the floor still hadn't slid my card in his computer. I asked the dealer, she called him over and explained I'd been playing a long time - he glanced at my bets, said we don't rate people playing under quarters, tossed my card back across the table and walked off.

I'm sure my mouth was as wide open as the dealer's was! She apologized repeatedly - but I assured her it wasn't her fault. Keep in mind, on Mississippi you easily play 3 to 11 chips and I had been getting very good starting hands and playing the max. I told her to let the floor know I was taking my $7,000 back over to Harrahs to play and left. Side note - I sent an email to the Mirage table operations about the incident but have never received even the courtesy of a reply.

Apparently from the tone of her letter, she is recommending I play elsewhere (they don't need to worry about that!)

Thanks again Rock'n Rick for helping convert a pdf to JPEG - it's amazing the things a computer can do

Peggy Ann - but I go by Ann with my friends!

The whole situation pissed me off. I hate it when the pit critters are too busy talking football, television or who knows what else, then an hour later they finally get your card. In your case I can really relate because my wife and I always play together and on a ten dollar table our combined bet can go over $25.00 in a heartbeat.

I have received several offers from The Wynn and I can guarantee you we did not play quarters when we were there. I will be glad when everything is automated because I feel I am never rated properly on table games.

There are way too many casinos, take your business elsewhere.
I don't think that the letter is all that bad. She is telling you that there are other properties in the MLife program that do rate the $5 players. She is also telling you that the Mirage will not have a system in place to rate your play by the time you return. She also said twice that she was sorry that happened. I might follow up the letter and ask if the floor person was talked to about his behavior. As you said, the dealer apologized several times as well about his actions.

I don't know if I would avoid going to an entire set of casinos on the basis of what one idiot did. If it happened again, I would be saying....

What a shame. I've always liked the Mirage but I think you can have a bad experience anywhere. The Mirage is an aging property that isn't as much of a high roller joint as it used to be. I would say stiff arming players of this posters level is probably not a good recipe for their future. Lets hope its an isolated incident.

It seems Mirage doesn't want low rollers. That is fine with me. It's a bit too stodgy in there for my tastes.

From my reading of this Ann was playing $15 to $55 per hand. That has to average out to more than $25/hand.

I can't believe they didn't offer a comped stay or some kind of perk to get her back in with her bankroll.

i haven't looked lately, but the old Mirage Players Cards do state that they rate table players from the $25 level and higher. I think this goes back to when Steve Wynn owned the hotel. The same was true for the Bellagio and I'm surprised he doesn't do the same at the Wynn. I agree VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Thanks everyone for the different perspectives.

I wasn't angry with the response, but I didn't include the fact the Ms Olsen didn't email me direct, her letter was a scanned attachment to an email cover from her secretary. I just thought that in itself was rather, maybe not unprofessional, but just uncaring. (I'm of the age where formal written letters use to be the normal response - yes my age is showing.)

I am a low roller, the only reason I had that kind of money to even try Mississippi Stud was due to the incredible run of good luck earlier in the week at the Golden Nugget & The D.

Everyone have a great evening.

Ann
I know that some of the casinos that only rate $25 & up hands will at least record your buy in and what you left with. As far as the PB "throwing" the card back, watch next time you are at a table. Very rarely do the hand cards back. They are not supposed to lean over tables or block the cameras view.
99% of the time the cards are pitched back at the players.
I understand Treegirl. (BTW - I enjoy reading your opinions on many topics, gets my old brain thinking!)

I was going by 20 years of playing tables at Ameristar & Harrahs in Missouri. The PBs wait till the current hand is played, move to your side of the table and then actually hand your card back (usually directly to your hand, rarely even sliding it across the table), acknowledging your name & welcoming you to the table.

Probably just a difference in the Midwest easy going approach to people they see on a regular basis as opposed to vacation traffic of just a few days.

Thanks for the input,

Ann
