Monte carlo

I was wondering......does anybody ever stay here?or ever even talk about it? It just occurred to me ,that after all the years of reading trip reports and this, and other, forums, noone ever mentions the MC. I ask only because the most i've ever heard about it really was when the sign caught on fire a few years back. Is it a decent place, has anyone ever eaten there? I swear i dont think i've ever heard of anyone eating there. I dont think even sionow has ever written about the place. Anyway I was just wondering.

Monte Carlo has been discussed on these boards many times since I've been watching these boards. It tends to often get overlooked since it is not a loud, flashy property. It's a decent place to stay & I have enjoyed it many times over the years. Not a bad location on the strip, room prices are usually very reasonable (they often have special promos available), and it has the free monorail to City Center & Bellagio now as well. Some have complained about noisy rooms, but I've never personally had that problem there. Many of those complaints were during the initial stages of building City Center alongside it, so that may have had something to do with it.
Most unfortunate part is that wart called Diablos that was stuck onto the front of what was a nice looking hotel. Avoid Diablos like the plague - unless you're a frat boy since that's the crowd that seems to inhabit it. Diablos food & service are both generally awful & the atmosphere is not much better. On the other hand, the Pub on their Street of Dreams is a really good place to spend an evening - big screen sports all over and a fun place to spend time. Brand Steakhouse is a nice place to eat if you are looking for a little more upscale meal.
Casino is smaller & quieter than many others around that area of the strip. I have found the dealers at Monte Carlo to be a very pleasant group - maybe because of the overall low key atmosphere in this casino?
Keep in mind, however, it is one of the MGM properties, so they do charge the "dreaded" resort fees in addition to your room price.
Unfortunately I haven't been to Vegas since the resort fees started or Diablos was built. I used to like the Monte Carlo for it's location and the reasonably priced room offers .Thanks for the reminder about the resort fees. Guess I'll have to stay at a Caesers property but gamble elsewhere..
I have stayed at the Monte a few times, however it was previously to the renovation and city center. It's not a twenty something property, however, that's fine with me, I prefer that. We always felt the MC was a great value, great location and, no walking through the casino to get to an elevator. I would definelty consider MC for our next trip.

I used to stay at MC frequently until they closed the brewery and which point I moved to MSS. MC has a great central strip location and reasonable room prices. Their food court is great for a quick bite on the run. I loved getting a liter of microbrew and taking it out to the casino. But now there are resort fees and the brewpub has been replaced by "the pub" where 12oz beers go for $10. Adios.
I attended her opening and stayed there too many times to count. Her facade now looks dirty, and is hidden by that eyesore Diablo's and that other eye sore City Center.
