More Computer tips: add a layer of privacy/encryption to your Internet Connection

Aggressive Ads got you down? Feel like you’re being stalked by online Marketers? This seems to be a great time to educate everyone about what a VPN can do for people:

**It adds a layer of encryption to your existing Internet connection to make you less vulnerable to malicious software.

**You get 1000’s of IP address so it’s like you are a virgin each time visit the same site.

**You can make it appear you’re from any location in the world, with just a few mouse clicks so no more aggressively targeted ads based upon your geographic location.

Additional tips to help make sure you remain private: change your DNS to something generic, and make sure you disable/delete cookies so you can’t be tracked that way.

This is the Best VPN as far as I am concerned. (Note: I have no affiliation or financial interest in this service)
I like the name and yes this is a good thing, especially if you use public wi-fi networks!
Mail, a nice firewall will do everything except for the changing of IP's.
Chef - a "firewall" will not encypt your traffic. Lety's say you take your laptop computer to a guest wireless network and order something with a creidt card on Amazon. Did you know that without a VPN, your traffic could be easily "sniffed" and your credit card numbers and / or password discovered?

VPN is definitely a good thing for covering your tracks and hiding private information.

For those who don't know or understand what "VPN" is.....

With or without a VPN, your traffic could be "sniffed out" without any problems. Also, the setup for a VPN is typically beyond most people's ability to take care of.

JP, I don't use wifi for any credit card transactions because I know exactly how easy it is to steal every wireless transmission you make. Given the right equipment, I can "sniff out" all of your computer traffic in your home while sitting outside.

What good is it going to do you to sniff encrypted data? You can't decode and read the packets from a VPN, so I'm not sure what your point is.
That is what I was trying to say.....

Most Wi-Fi networks can be sniffed, but a VPN adds extra encryption that cannot easily be decoded. It is like strong encryption (VPN) inside weak encryption (wifi).

Isn't my WEP or WPA2-PSK also providing strong encryption. (WPA2-PSK anyway)

Are you suggesting I "double dip" and use VPN over WPA2-PSK?

Says who? VPN security like any other follows a specific protocol. If you have the equipment and the knowledge, that data can be yours.

The entire point is, if I want your information, I can get it quite easily.

Besides, a majority of wireless users can't properly setup a secure connection anyways.
