Most Beautiful Song Ever!

Hallejulah. The Jeff Buckley version, not Leonard Cohen's.

....... but Leonard Cohen DID write it (just sayin').

An especially beautiful version of "Hallelujah" was a live version sung by k. d. lang.

Your close!

But I got to go with "For Your Precious Love" by either Otis or Jerry.

Kills me every time.

Imagine... sung by John Lennon...I also like Neil Youngs version.
What a Wonderful World...sung by Louis Armstrong.
If I Ruled the World...sung by Tony Bennett.
Sitting here racking my brain trying to think of what I think is the most beautiful song. My mind keeps going to a song that you don't hear played on the radio. Actually 2 songs. My favorite would be "In My World" by the Moody Blues. Absolutely beautiful. The other is "For My Lady". Also by the Moody Blues.

I do love Imagine. Who couldn't love the lyrics and the idealism behind.

Then there's the Christmas songs. "Oh Holy Night". And my favorite The Little Drummer Boy with Bing Crosby and David Bowie.
Tough question - but I think I would go with "Nessun Dorma" as sung by the Three Tenors for their last encore at their original performance in Rome on 7/7/90.

I've listened to it at least 25 times, and it brings huge tears to my eyes every time. I don't even know what the hell they're singing about.

Was it this one?

Nessun Dorma

As good as all three tenors were, Pavarotti was definitely the clean up hitter.

This is what you're crying about.
English Translation:
Nobody shall sleep!...
Nobody shall sleep!
Even you, o Princess,
in your cold room,
watch the stars,
that tremble with love and with hope.
But my secret is hidden within me,
my name no one shall know...
No!...No!...
On your mouth I will tell it when the light shines.
And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!...
(No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.)
Vanish, o night!
Set, stars! Set, stars!
At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win!

My vote for the most beautiful [and romantic] song ever written: Song for a Winters Night,as written by Gordon Lightfoot. If your not familiar with this song, here it is:

The lamp is burning low upon my table top
The snow is softly falling
The air is still in the silence of my room
I hear your voice softly calling
If I could only have you near
To breathe a sigh or two
I would be happy just to hold the hands I love
On this winter night with you

The smoke is rising in the shadows overhead
My glass is almost empty
I read again between the lines upon each page
The words of love you sent me
If I could know within my heart, that you were lonely too
I would be happy just to hold the hands I love
On this winter night with you

The fire is dying now, my lamp is growing dim
The shades of night are lifting
The morning light steals across my windowpane
Where webs of snow are drifting
If I could only have you near, to breathe a sigh or two
I would be happy just to hold the hands I love
And to be once again with you
On this winter night with you

Second for me is " Time to Say Goodbye" as performed by Bocelli.
