Motley Fool - Only 10% of people go to Vegas to Gamble

I have taken trips to LV where my only gambling was on some sports bets. With that being said, if I go to Vegas more than once a year, some people think I have a gambling problem. I make a hell of a lot more money now than I did 20 years ago yet I gamble far less now than back then. Vegas is the adult Disneyland. Many people who don't go to Vegas, don't understand that.

That's what I tell [some] people..."We just go for the shows and the food."
Yeah, right. No one can deny the excitement of gambling. NO WAY!
I go for 4 days and I gamble for 4 days.

Like someone being asked why they read Playboy.
"Just for the articles". Another lie.

"Vegas IS for gambling, shows, food and a LOT to see.
Gaming,if you like.

"Ding Ding Ding" is the machines going off.
The Hotel/casino wants you to walk through the entire of slots/gaming area to get to the check in boothlings.
Sure,if you have $11 in your pocket, you ain't gonna gamble your Micky D food money.

I got there to wager bets on whatever game I feel good about. Yes,I study the games that I plan on playing.
A huge shit-ton of fools go there and try their luck. "Sure,I know how to play black jack",they say. Doughtful!

Then there are the slot players, with their lucky charms.. People that rely on their horoscopes, too.
Just sheep to the slaughter.

Gaming is my JOB when I do it. I study and practice, read books and use software.

Yeah, some go there for conventions and stuff.
I'll bet that they cannot resist the temptation to "TRY THEIR LUCK". No way that they can resist the hope of easy money.

I'll vote 50-80% DO wager a bet or 2.

Slots are almost everywhere!
Modern "news" article headlines are a mess. Eye catchers to garner clicks and views. The content is immaterial to the writer as long as the rating is reached. Or in this case gets you interested in using the writer's service to invest in the stock market.

While not 'exactly' saying so, the headline attracts your attention by stating that only 10% of Vegas visitors gamble. Then the first line of the 'story' states that 75% of visitors gamble, later they state that it is 77%.
And of course the whole story is based on a non-scientific poll. Even scientific polls are greatly skewed by people lying or purposefully giving wrong answers.

I go to Vegas to eat at nice restaurants. My wife goes to entertain clients. But lets face it, if it weren't for the gambling we would go somewhere else.

I believe that only about ten percent come to Vegas with their main reason being gambling. That doesn't mean only ten percent gamble.
i go for the dry heat. I can gamble at home. LOL, of course I gamble. but I play more of the games that I don't play at home such as pai-gow or craps. that gambling is how we get the free room offers and comps that keep us coming back. so yes indeed that was a waste of time article.
10% admit that they gamble, not the reason that they go there.
Please try again.
Do over.
90% go there, NOT to make a wager?
I'm not buying that.
I think that number is way low. I think the number is closer to 70%.
Yes I can go to my local casinos and do, but I get 4 vacations a year and always leave the state.
It's either the Oregon coast at casino, or Vegas usually 2 times a year.

It's a getaway, and how I recharge my mental batterys.
Does that mean I gamble heavy every day? No, not if I'm in a cold streak. I have no problems slowing down and low rolling while enjoying a few drinks.
I'm with you, Roulette Man. When in Vegas, I gamble 60% fewer hours then I did 25 years ago. My bet size is about half of what it used to be. Prior to my early trips, I couldn't wait to get to the black jack tables, and now my Vegas trips are far more about hanging with friends than gambling.

I'm no longer "Jonesing" to gamble.

The only reason I go to Vegas (at least 4 times a year) is to gamble. Sure I visit Tunica casinos, but its the Vegas ones I really like. And I gamble more hours, for higher amounts, than I did for the first 15 years. I also tend to win more too.
We've been to the shows (but, hate standing in lines) and food is to keep you going...its the gambling that makes Vegas.
