Muhammad Ali RIP

Died this morning at age 74. I've been reading some of his quotes, they are really inspiring. lots of wisdom. here is one " The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up"
DonDiego remembers listening to his early fights on the radio after his bedtime. Back then Cassius Clay was the most entertaining athlete in the world, . . . and The Greatest pugilist ever !

And poor old DonDiego shook his hand once, . . . when DonDiego was matriculating in college, . . . p'bly 1968 or 1969.

"If you even dream of beating me you'd better wake up and apologize.”
I was called about this last night. He was the only guy who had control over Howard Cosell. Don King ripped him off for a lot of money. I wonder if that didn't happen, if he would have stopped boxing at an earlier point of time.

I remember listening to him beating Sonny Liston on the radio when I was a little kid. It was after my bedtime too. We got a picture of him with me and my daughter a few years ago when I got some gloves signed. RIP Champ.

I saw him fight once in person, and twice on closed circuit in huge arenas.
Six of us drove from Long Island to
Nawlins to see him regain his title from Leon Spinks. It was a great coming of age trip.
Saw him lose a lopsided fight to
Larry Holmes and another, in his last fight, to Trevor Berbick.
One of the Giants of our day.
Rest in Peace.

He was the greatest during the hey day of heavyweight boxing. Some of the best bouts I have ever seen involved Ali. So long champ.
Too, too much hype over this man. Television, newspapers SATURATED FROM COVER TO COVER,,! Enough already!

He may have been a great boxer but he also refused to serve HIS country.

Forgiven because he's an athlete and athletes make lots of money for people! Ridiculous!
I had a choice in 1967, join up or get drafted. I joined the Navy. Cassius Clay hid behind his newly found religion and refused to join the service. He was and still remains gutless to this day. His passing holds no special meaning to me - I have more respect for the many who died and were injured while in the service for their country.
I heard he was in favor of resort fees.

Ali served our country in many ways.He refused to kill for it.
Isn't it ironic that he lost his ability to beat people up because he refused to kill ?
