Muliple Free Play offers that demand hotel stay

I respect Anthony and his opinions, however even if he did comment on this threads he is commenting on an issue that doesn't effect him. The only issue Money seems to be arguing is that a person is taking advantage of a certain casino by just playing with the house money and leaving. I am guessing this somehow upsets you because you look at as they are taking advantage of the casino by not staying there and losing his/her own money? Whether or not the person gambles any of his/her own money shouldn't matter. In this case the casino has no issue with it and it should be over. The person has lost enough money at this casino to the point where the casino is rewarding the person with this promotions/gift. If the person chooses not to stay there and only play with the casino money, the casino will simply stop offering the persons these gifts/promotions.
I think all of the positions here have been well stated by both (all) sides. Frankly, I would welcome Anthony's comments. I think Anthony could offer an unbiased opinion that would show knowledge of both the business and consumer advocacy and would be respected by everyone.
Anthony's opinion, if he offered one, would NOT be unbiased, since he depends on the good will of the casinos to place coupons in the MRB. He would have to be on the fence between the casinos and the players.
Sue, are you saying that the casinos might object to the practice? If they had no objection then surely there would be no concerns on the part of the LVA or Anthony?

Money, are you saying that if Anthony says it's ok to take the freeplay and not use the free room as long as you give them your normal coin-in that you'll embrace the practice?
I don't believe Money has the opportunity to do so. Since he hasn't answered my question I was probably right and he has put all of his eggs in one basket. Kinda hard to be tempted to double book for some great free play options when you don't HAVE multiple options!

I think if that happened he'd just ask for someone ELSE'S opinion to be sought out & posted.
Mare, please repeat your question. Im sorry, I missed it amidst all the squabbles. But please read on, because I do address your other points.

alanleroy, I would think that if you are indeed giving the casinos plenty of "action" that they wouldnt complain. But I can't speak for the casinos. I do know that they frown on the practice. Earlier in this thread I told you about someone I know from the Miami area who literally dumped tens of thousands of dollars in one weekend in Vegas while hopping from the Golden Nugget to the Venetian and then to Caesars, picking up free play and air fare reimbursement from two hotels for the same trip. What I neglected to say was that six months later this high roller was totally cut off, even though in one weekend she lost more than $75-thousand that she will admit to losing. Heck, she might have lost more.

Mare, right now I have a standing offer from three different casinos for "show up money" in Vegas. to qualify for the "show up money" I have to do two things: 1-- re-open a credit line and 2-- check into the hotel. I literally could show up, sign the credit line, take their free money and head off to another casino. But I won't do that. Ive gambled at all three casinos before -- and they want me to come back after a hiatus of more than 4 years.

And there are two reasons why I won't: 1. I dont think its "right." 2. I can just as easily SAVE these offers for the future, when I might want to actually stay at one of these casinos -- why blow the offer when I don't need it?

Frankly, I think this concept of "hotel hopping" to collect free play is -- from the players point of view -- short sighted. But, as Ive said before, if you are giving the casinos THAT MUCH action then go for it and have a great time. If you are not giving the casino the expected "action" you will lose this perk and the loss might come when you actually need it.

And Mare, do I put "all my eggs in one basket" ? Pretty much, yes. For casinos in Vegas I stay at Caesars. Here in SoCal I stopped going to Pechanga and now play VP at Rincon. When I play live poker Ive pretty much stopped going to Commerce and Hollywood Park and now almost always play exclusively at The Bike. those are the casinos I prefer and thats where I maximize my comps by concentrating my play. (The Bike does have a comp system for cash games, and they give free food 24/7 in the high limit area-- great steaks, sushi and Asian foods with names I cannot pronounce.

Not necessarily. I believe the casinos close their eyes to this practice and let it go on, as long as they get a reasonable amount of play from the people doing it. But that doesn't mean they want Anthony to actively encourage people to do it. They do everything they can to keep their guests from playing elsewhere during their trips, even though they know that's not realistically going to happen with many of them.

Well said, Sue. I agree 100% with that.
