Hi Cheese,

I'm not sure whether to be flattered or insulted but it's good either way . I didn't mean to hijack that delightful Tonyrob's thread but I couldn't stop myself. I'm not too knowledgeable on modern day music.

The grammys had lots of "live music" which was nice that it was not "lip-synched" !

can someone tell me the difference between "record of the year" and "album of the year"?

don't care for mumford but different music likes is what drives the industry. Not sure I would bet on Mumford to win American Idol.
While I did not watch the Grammys (Award shows & fake Reality shows are pretty much never on my watch list!) I did happen to see a couple clips of live performances afterwards. The one that stood out for me was the Black Keys, with Dr. John and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band accompanying them on Lonely Boy. Great live performance and real music - and a true treat to see current performers giving these Jazz/Blues stalwarts some acknowledgement (and some airtime)! I wonder how many trendy music types watching even knew who Dr. John was - all I heard on the news was a few quick mentions about the "old guy on keyboards with a big feathered headdress" and a good laugh by the "reporters" about his attire. Wish I could see more of today's artists truly collaborating with the old guard. Maybe then there would be more music worth listening to.
