Murder OT

Virginia Viola Hyatt, and my lifelong fascination with her macabre deed.

In the summer of 1959 ( I was 7) I was visiting my Grandmother here in rural Alabama. Two gruesome and bizarre murders had occurred on a hog farm very near my Grandmothers house the day before. As you can imagine the adults talked of nothing else. At some point in the afternoon they decided to load up in the cars and make the short drive over to the Hyatt place to see what was going on. Unable to leave us young'uns behind unattended, we were loaded into the cars. Me, my brothers and sisters and a passel of cousins were hauled off to the scene of the crime. I remember the adults talking about shotgun blasts to the head, dismemberment with an axe, babys fed to the hogs, body parts thrown out of car windows on the side of the road, and a young woman named Viola who had done it. 30 years passed and I would occasionally recall that day. One day about 20 years ago I asked my Mother about it. She didn't remember and told me that I had imagined it all. I knew that I hadn't. Roughly ten years ago I was visiting an Aunt and asked her if she remembered that day, she did, and knew all the details. It is my goal to make a movie about Viola. Everyone knows who Lizzie Borden is, why has poor Viola been forgotten? Lizzie didn't have half the imagination or flair for the dramatic that Viola did. Lizzie, pretender to the throne. Amateur with an axe.

Anyway you can google Virginia Viola Hyatt for more details.

BTY the hog farm still stands, I can take you there....if you dare.
You should have made a children's rhyme about ol' Virginia. She'd be more popular than Lizzie.

Shotgun Virgina Viola
was deadlier than a case of ebola
She put on her clogs
Fed baby to hogs
Then relaxed with a cold coca-cola.
It would make a great movie. I grew up not far from the place where the chicken coop murders happened. The movie the Changling with Angelina Jolie played the lead in. Happened way before I was born but the story and movie is fascinating.
I'm so stealing that.

Don't think she's got anything on the pickton murders in b.c. canada.
He killed a bunch of hookers and fed them to the hogs.

Wow! Never heard of him.
In Violas case there was no known motive. She confessed, but never said why, and never spoke about it again. The secret went with her to the grave. She died in 2000.
I don't like blood and gore, and avoid movies and books of the horror genre like the plague, but Viola, fascinates me. I think the trip to the murder scene scarred me for life. Just joshing....I think...
sitycent are you in the business? (movies, not murder.)

That's good, Alan.
Viola does deserve her own rhyme.
