Music

Just thought I’d post this one for those who may be interested.

I don’t normally listen to Country radio stations, but when I’m channel surfing in the car, I’ll occasionally pause on one of them for a few minutes.

A few days ago, I came across this new release, called Remembering, by Ashley Campbell. I didn’t recognize her name, but I thought the song was clean and tuneful. It wasn’t until I got back home and dialed it up on YouTube that I realized what it was about.

It’s a touching tribute by Ashley Campbell to her father, musician Glen Campbell, who’s caught in the terrible grip of Alzheimer’s disease.

Remembering - Ashley Campbell (2015)

Bone for bone, we are the same
Bones get tired and they can’t carry all the weight
We can talk until you can’t even remember my name
Daddy don’t you worry, I’ll do the remembering

When it comes to listening to the music I enjoy LAs Vegas can be sadly lacking in this area. AS a Jazz Musician I am partial for Jazz> I have a love affair with New Orleans and New York , LA and Chicago are areas I am familiar with...........But!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!wait a second>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>You Tube has given me a new lease on life............all I need to do is go for James Moody, Buddy Collette, Dizzy, Count Basie , Duke Ellingtion, Lester Young, Charlie Parker, Frank Wess, Hubert Laws, Wes Montgomery , Gene Ammons, Ben Webster , Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen Mc Crae, and so many more I have all of the great music at home and it really keeps me going. I have just touched the tip of the Ice Berg on my favorites .............Check em out ....................

The problem with jazz is that you can’t sing it in the shower.

If I can’t sing in the shower, my wife can enter the bathroom and do whatever the hell she wants to do -- like fold towels, or put on makeup, or other equally devious things that drive me bonkers. If I sing, it drives her away.

And that, in a nutshell, is why we need rock, pop, and even a little bit of country.

You sing this in the shower, for sure!

Ella and Duke

This song is regaining in popularity. Heard it a few years ago at the Bellagio fountains. It's about as far as I get with classical/opera type music.

The Ecstasy of Gold

Hmm . . . sounds like the theme song from one of those Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns.
