I also note the guy that was on the Governor's staff that wrote the memos that said they weren't paying enough attention to the Flint water problem was also shit canned. Poor Alan won't lay blame where it is due. Republicans wanted this power. That is why they passed the EM law. The Michigan voters told them no and voted to repeal it. The Governor and the Republicans in the legislature said FU voters and passed it again. They wanted to be in charge of Flint, so now the cowardly bastards need to step up to the plate and accept responsibility for their failure. Malibber wonders with a morbid curiosity how Michigan is going to pay to fix this? I am not sure if even an additional 5% income tax on all state residents for the next 50 years will cover the costs. I suspect the cheapest solution might be to Love Canal the entire town.

I do agree with you that anyone in a position of authority who knew the water was dangerous, but failed to inform the people should be prosecuted if possible. Even if that leads to the former Emergency Manger, Former Mayor, Current Governor or President Obama himself.

Maybe the only answer for these old industrial cities that have lost their manufacturing base and have a fraction of the population they once had is to relocate the population to where all the jobs are. We are at full employment after all..that should be easy. And to pay for it...for each of those citizens we move to greener pastures we deport a few of the people here illegally or say no to a couple of new refugees. They can have the job that 'undocumented' worker was working. Let's take care of our own first. Then we can just condemn the whole place, recycle anything of worth and turn it all back to agriculture....or even make it a federal wildlife refuge...like they do to all those millions of acres in the West.

Oh and Flint would be the perfect trial city for this effort.

1. They have lost their base of jobs and will probably never recover.
2. Their crime rate is one of the worst in the nation.
3. Less than 100,000 citizens...that's only a couple of months of 'Undocumented Workers' to stop.
4. Their infrastructure is so old and worn out it will never be cost effective to replace.
5. Their water has already been fucked up by 'the government'.

Time for the Residents of Flint to start voting with their feet. I'm sure cities around the country will welcome the Flint Refugees...At least a lot more welcoming than people coming here illegally.. At least they speak English in Flint.

I don't depend on the Government for Water, Sewer, Energy, Internet, Phone or Waste disposal. If something goes wrong with any of MY INFRASTRUCTURE it doesn't impact 100,000 of my neighbors. How's that for simplistic conservative talking points...that no 'conservative politician' ever talks about.

And anyone who claims that the city council voted for his 100% Flint water plan is a liar. Obviously.
