Nice hit!
I've never hit a $1 royal, but I don't usually play $1 VP.
I have hit 10 royals playing quarters. They all have some special memories attached to them, but the first, the lowest paying, was also the most memorable.
My first royal was on a 3-coin max bet progressive machine at the Wild Card casino in Black Hawk, Colorado, February 15, 1998. That was easy to remember on many levels. Number one would be it was my first royal after playing the game for years. Number two would be it was a 3-coin max bet progressive machine. There were, and maybe still are, 3-coin max bet progressive JOB VP machines in some Black Hawk casinos. The royal progressive started at $600.00, and the max bet was 75 cents. The progressive on my machine when I hit the royal was $965.00. I liked playing at that level with still having the possibility of a pretty decent payout. Number three would be I was dealt a 4-to-the-royal club flush with an 8 instead of a jack. I asked the bartender what she would do, and she said she'd go for the royal. Okay! Number four would be the Daytona 500 was on TV behind the bar, and it was real close to the finish of the race. I discarded the 8, and I hit the deal button just as Dale Earnhardt crossed the finish line to win his first and only Daytona 500. Hello Jack of Clubs for the royal! I won my first royal at the same moment that Dale won the Daytona 500!
