Thanks, that was a fun read.
Super Neat, I can identify with your report, my first trip was in 1991 to attend Texas Assoc. of Ind Agents convention, with Chairman of my Gov Comm & our wives, we stayed at the Mirage. We saw the Righteous Brothers I Think at the Desert Inn, a $20 tip got us front row seats. The Mirage & Cesars Palace really impressed this country boy. Since then I we have been 50ish times with 2 different wives, 6 children, & an estimated 50 friends. Next Trip May 4-10 staying at The D, God help me I do love Vegas. Thanks for the Trip to the past.

This reminds me of my first time as well. I would always pick out a different city to visit every year, 1999 was LV. I didn't know a thing about, especially any insider stuff. Stayed at the Maxim and I remember walking up the street and seeing Ceasers, Bellagio and the whole grandeur of LV Blvd. I got hooked, my wife..? somewhat. We visited several more times through the 00's and then she tired of it. I didn't tho, but it has been a while since we went, hopefully get to go before too long.

Great story. Like the rest, a good read.

Reminds me of my first trip, 10 years earlier. What great times those were.
I can remember my first time, also.
I "won" 2 free nights at The Stardust, way back when for listening to a time share spiel.
"Let's go" ,I said to my buddy,Steve.

We drove from Seattle to Las Vegas(Never again).
At one time I was doing 100MPH+ in his '88 Accord. At night in the desert.
We finally get there and the streets are flooded!
Some killer rain storm hit the night B-4. It was a mind-blower to see the busses shooting rain water 20 feet beyond the sidewalk!

I remember that Mc Donald's had a sign that was over the top.

The next day,all of the water was gone. I think that was in 1991.
We flew in to Bob Stupaks place and got issued fake chips in 1993.
Fun times. I'm hooked on 'Vegas.
Ahhh, Vegas World. That was my first trip on my own money. Well, on my own any way. Stupak paid for it.

nice write up.

In the early 80's, when I was being young and stupid in South Africa, I found a full page add in an American magazine similar to Roadtrip's in that thread. I tore it out and carried it around for 14 months. One of the first things I did when I got Stateside was to call and book a trip. One of the perks was a $500 bill. Well, it wasn't a "real" $500 bill but you could redeem it for matchplay chips.
It didn't take me long to figure out that VW was NOT the place to gamble but I did like the look of the place.
Thanks for reading and for all your memories!
